Lightheaded, Chest Burn

I'm 22yrs of age and have had no prior problems with anything besides the common cold and such....and some bowel irregularities that I note later. About 3 weeks ago I started to feel lightheaded, sometimes to the point of dizzy, and my just felt tired and out of it. It seems to happen everyday, and from what I can tell it seems to start, or get worse after I eat. I eat light and stick to vegetables and healthy meats. I also started to notice, usually late in the evening a burning sensation in my upper chest, and the urge to burp but alot of the times can't. It seems that passing gas/belching relieves the symptoms. The lightheaded feeling usually is paired up with a tightness in my chest, making it seem like I'm having a hard time breathing. I've also been sneezing more than usual. I have been staying relaxed since this started and haven't committed myself to anything that would cause alot of anxiety. I recently had tests done at my doctor's, my vitals and blood all came back very good. I did have some trouble with constipation a few months prior to all this, and had my colon checked out and a cat scan done and it all turned out good. So I've just been taking softeners and sticking to fiber diets......and it has regulated those problems. My family has a history of diabetes. Other than that, I am clueless to what's going on. Any insight would be appreciated. I will probably see a doctor very soon, just looking for opinions. Thanks you very much.

I was reading this, and I have had some things happen like this as well.
It is currently wednesday at 12:04AM here, and i visited the E.R. on Sunday. I was very randomly feeling a burn/awkard bad tingle in my chest and i was breathing normally, but it felt as if i wasnt breathing properly. I felt light headed as well. I got an Acid reducer, but it hasented helped. Yeseterday morning i woke up, no chest burning or anything, but still the light headedness. Like i've read on this forum, everyone keeps saying the same things i've found. My symptoms don't quite match up with anything. I have gotten an EKG, Oxygen Test, and i am to get blood work soon. But Still, the things they are testing for(the things that could be wrong), I have looked into some of those symtoms as well for those things and once again, they dont quite match up. I know this isnt just anxiety or panic attacks, because i have been calm, and nothing has really built up to this. It happened VERY randomly, and it has me very worried. I have no appetite, i havent been able to sleep very much. Seravl instances also occured where I felt worse when laying down. If anyone would happen to have any information please let me know.

Hello there.
I was googling the forementioned symptoms that I have as well and was surprised to finally run across this page. All of the symptoms that Matclip has mentioned I have noticed. It began with a subtle irritation in my chest last night (as if too much 'slime', for lack of better words, invaded the area). And its managed to morph itself to an illness in which I feel a burning sensation while I walk long distances. Additionally, my nose has been running and I've been getting the need to sneeze every so often. My vision seems foggy and my eyes feel as if they are worn out. Additionally, I get a strange sensation on the sides of my forehead when I move my head 90 degrees to the right and left, when I raise or lower my eyebrows, when I strain or loosen my eye sockets, and, occasionally, when I shift my eyes.
In about the last couple of hours, I've begun to feel slight discomfort in my bowels. The area feels slightly irritated, as if I have to use the bathroom. Additionally, after my stomach started feeling irritated, I began to feel a fizzling sensation in my upper abdomen. I had a pretty small meal earlier (chicken noodle soup, bagel, yogurt and granola). So, I'm wondering if somehow this urgency to use the bathroom (the duration between when I eat and have to use the bathroom tends to be spanned) has anything in particular to do with the problem.
I'd love to know if this problem is temporary and if this is a manifest version of a common ill (due to the fact that it's allergy season once again). Thanks for your help. Everything is greatly appreciated.

Update on my symptoms. The heart palpitations have stopped, and I haven't felt the burn in my chest near as much. I'm starting to think those symptoms were related to anxiety, cause I play in a band and we had a big show coming up. Although, I don't normally have that sort of anxiety, I'm fairly used to performing. I still have the lightheaded feeling, and I notice more and more than it's not necessarily after I eat, I sometimes feel it after I get up in the morning or long after I have eaten. I'm still sneezing more frequently, and have been getting a headache pretty often. When I get the lightheaded feeling, it's normally paired with a vision problem....feels like my eyes get really heavy, sometimes a little blur. I noticed my nose can get pretty itchy too.

So maybe it's not to the point of dizzy, more to the point of a sudden fatigue, out of it feeling. I have tried prilosec and pepcid complete thinking it was related to that. Can't say if it's done much....cause the feeling usually comes and goes on it's own anyways. I took an anti-histamine a short while ago, thinking this was all due to allergies, but I haven't noticed any changes. I also seem to have mucus draining down my throat, no signs of drip or cough, just in my throat when I swallow. Also, my stomach still has a pretty constant sour feeling, worse at times. But I've had the stomach problems prior to all of this.

I would love to go to the doctor and get their help, but I lost my job recently and lost my insurance. And all the times I went for my lower back and stomach problems when I had insurance, the doctors just shrugged me off....which, considering my strange symptoms, makes me feel like I'd be wasting my money again, but more this time. I will say, I haven't been very active lately, and wasn't when this started. I appreciate the replies, and just want to keep my symptoms up to date....I'm learning more about them week by week. I also remember that when this started it was getting windy outside and a colder temperature, but I haven't been spending much time out, so not sure if that has any importance.

Hello,

Thanks for keeping me updated.

First of all,you can take antacids or prilosec whenever you have gastritis. Also pls read the general lifestyle modifications that I have recommended and you will help.

Regarding the palpitations, then there are different possibilities for these.Causes include anemia, hyperthyroidism, abnormal levels of electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, and calcium, caffeine, tobacco and alcohol intake, stress, heart conditions like narrowing of the coronary arteries, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias or Wolfe-Parkinson-White syndrome and medicines like asthma and thyroid medicines.

Dry mouth and throat even after taking ample amount of fluids can be due to alcohol abuse, stress, sinusitis, diabetes, hypothyroidism,Sjogren's syndrome and sarcoidosis and depression
I feel that a clinical evaluation and investigations like ECG,stress echo,Hb levels, thyroid profile and blood tests measuring the levels of electrolytes are needed in confirming a diagnosis.Pls consult a physician/cardiologist for the same.Till then, chew sugar free gum or suck on sugar free sweets and drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine drinks.Pls don’t smoke tobacco or drink alcohol and brush and floss thoroughly.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Thanks for the quick reply and useful info. I haven't made it to the doctor yet to get myself checked out, but I have taken Pepcid Complete a few times after eating meals and it seems to make my symptoms fade away. So if taking an antacid and Prilosec seems to make my symptoms stay at bay, should I stop taking them until it comes back or continue to take them? Oh, and I noticed another symptom today. It feels as if I'm having heart palps, as if my heart is pounding heavier than usual. Not necessarily a weird rhythm, but a heavy beat. And I seem to get a dry throat and mouth even after just recently drinking fluids. Anyways, just wanted to add that and ask about the meds. Thanks again!

Hello,

Thanks for writing in this forum.
All these symptoms may be due to gastritis due to acid reflux from the stomach. It is usually after eating a heavy fatty meal and sedantry lifestyle. It can also be caused by drinking too much alcohol, prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen, or infection with bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).

Eat small nutritious meals at frequent intervals instead of a heavy single meal. Exercise frequently and take your dinner atleast 2 hrs prior to bedtime. Also raise the head end of the bed by 2 blocks. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods .

Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec(omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids and take a diet low in salt content.

If the symptoms persist then pls consult a physician and get irritable bowel syndrome and H.pylori infection ruled out.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
