Long-term splinter - a problem?

Allow me to get straight to my likely stupid problem. About a decade ago I got a splinter in my finger. I tried to get it out but its still there. I forgot about it for years, but recently I’ve been worried about it. Is this a problem? It’s completely beneath the skin and not visible any more, I can’t tell what finger it’s in. Could this kill me or mean I have to have my finger amputated?

Hi.  No, I don't think a splinter in the finger can kill you.  I know that I have given up on removing a splinter and eventually the typically move their way to the top. Believe it or not, the splinter could be gone.  What was the splinter originally?  Do you see it anymore?

By the way, no question is a stupid question.  Sincerely, that's what we are here for.  If you wonder, ask!!
Thanks specialmom

I don't see the splinter anymore but it's definitely still in there. So you think it will have no negative effects?
