Low WBC & Vitamin D

Hello all,

Just recently after a routine checkup, I got blood results back and everything seemed normal except I have a low white blood cell count of 2.4. That's all the information I was given about my blood results and white blood cell count, they didn't go into any detail about neutrophils or anything specific like that.

Some background information about me & my health history:

- 23 year old white female 5 ft 1, 115 pounds
- suffered from a couple of complicated/hemiplegic migraines (scans and MRIs have ruled out other serious possibilities)
- another blood test (taken last year) has shown that I have a Vitamin D deficiency.
- my father died last year, and since then I've been under a lot of stress/anxiety and maybe that has something to do with my low wbc?
- I don't drink (no alcohol or soft drinks), smoke or do any drugs, I rarely even take tylenol unless I absolutely have to.
- I generally eat pretty well, although I don't eat much meat, but loooove me some sweets.
- I sometimes feel fatigued and will occasionally get some headaches
- I have a desk job, which means I sit for a majority of the time, and I don't get much exercise

Does anyone else have any experience with low wbc? Is there some kind of correlation between having low wbc and vitamin D deficiency? I've read that Vitamin D has receptors that help stimulate the production of WBC, but I'm just curious if anyone has both ailments? The nurse that gave me the results didn't seem too worried about it and said it could be from an infection (I often get sinus infections) and wants me to redo my bloodwork in one month (which it's almost been a month since my last blood test).

In the meantime, are there supplements or foods that I should either take/avoid to raise my levels naturally? I'm not as consistent as I should be with taking my vitamin d supplements, but this has scared me into doing so.

Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated! Hope everyone has a great day :)

I have low WBC and vit d counts and have a thyroid problem. I'm hyperthyroid. Might want to see a Endocrinologist. Have him test your vit d levels you don't want to take too much. Get some sunlight for vit d.

Hi! :)  I just had my 17 yo daughter to the dr today for a regular checkup, and to ask the dr about Rickett's syndrome (her father has it), which is a vitamin d defiency, and causes weak bones.  The dr said that until her bloodwork comes back, she can have fish, liver, processed (vit D) milk, and exposure to moderate amounts of sunlight, along with her other foods and activities.  The things I just mentioned are great for putting vitamin D back into the body, where it can help bones.  Blessings - Blu

also, I currently have a sore throat, some possible swollen glands in neck and some yellowish phlegm (it is pollen season, after all). Should I get this looked at before redoing my bloodwork?
