Misdiagnosis?

I went to my GP two weeks ago complaining of something feeling like a lump in my throat. He prescribed antibiotics and told me to take the entire course, i did so and the symptoms did not go away so i went back and i was told that the antibiotics would take a few weeks to work.

I feel this is completely wrong and i will be seeing a different GP in a weeks time, the symptoms i have feel like something is stuck in my throat, sometimes it's almost like there's a lump 'tickling' making me want to cough or give me a feeling of sickness (light stomach etc) i am producing more phlegm than usual. Could this be a bacterial infection or something worse? Thankyou.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
This could be due to tumors, weakness of muscles of the food pipe, very severe throat infection, tonsils etc. I would suggest you see an ENT specialist instead of a GP.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

What color is the phlegm you are coughing up?  Green is infection.  White or clear would not be infection.  It could be allergies.  Do you have trouble swallowing food and is food getting stuck?  If so, it could be something more serious like a tumor.  It also could be your thyroid.  I would get a second opionion.
