Muscle pain

I am 57 and going through menopause.  I have pains in my legs(muscle aches), my right arm and right knee cap.  Sometimes it so difficult to walk the stairs.  Sometimes at night my arms ache and my fingers especially the right gets numb so it disturbes my sleep.  I have also had tingling in my fingers and toes.  I get tired very easily.  I was on Crestor and my husband told me to stop taking it.  I am really worried.  Can you help?

Thanks for your response.  I was wondering would it be ok for me not to have Hormone Replacement Therapy?  Is it important that I take hormones now that I am getting older? Is there something I am loosing from my body during menopause that should be replaced?  What harm would I endure if I do not take HRT as I get older?

Hi
Thanks for the update!
HRT means Hormone Replacement Therapy. This is the main stay of menopause. Do consult a gynecologist for this. It will be difficult to manage the symptoms without expert advice. You can try food rich in estrogen. The list is available at: http://dogtorj.net/id46.html
If you have a thyroid problem then it is possible that thyroid function is not under control.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thanks for the information.  I am not sure what HRT means(Home Remedy Treatment)?  Getting off Crestor is to see if that is the cause. I am now waiting for the improvement.  Will keep you posted.  As for menopause, I am going solo, no medications.  I am not sure that's the right way to go.  It's hot, it's cold, it's hot, it's cold, sometimes I feel like giving up.   I try to take as many vitamins as possible including my Ratio-Ramipril, Hydrochlorothiazide and Synthroid.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Your husband is right in asking you to stop Crestor. If the pains are due to the drug, stopping the drug will help relieve the symptoms. The other possibility is menopause itself. HRT will help if this is the case. The third possibility is vitamin D deficiency, maybe calcium deficiency. Get bone density test done too.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor regarding this pain. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
