My symptoms are extreme weight gain from 180 lbs. - 230 lbs. in under 3 months, swelling in hands, feet and joints, numbness in my toes that is constant, fatique, and the worst is the persistant nauesa 5-20 mins everytime after eating. The doctors have ruled out pregnacy from a urine test however i have heard that u can still be pregnant and i still have my periods however they are irregular.I never vomit though. My diet usually consists of nutrional skakes such as boost or slim fast once or twice a day, oatmeal or toast, and a regular supper(ie:spagetti or sauage with small side of potatoes) and salad with no meat or cheeze. Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Common causes like overeating, lack of exercise, diabetes, hypothyroidism have been ruled out n your case. Hence you must look for other causes. One is water retention due to low serum protein. This along with anemia can cause unexplained weight gain. Adrenal gland problems are the other cause. Cushing’s syndrome should be looked for. The kidney function too should be assessed. Also the diet should contain more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of spaghetti, potato etc. Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Late night snacking and poor sleep too can cause weight gain. Polycystic ovary too causes weight gain, hence has to be ruled out by an ultrasound of abdomen.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
