Neck, head, back pain.

For the past 3 days I have felt very achy almost all over. My neck is the worst, Real tight sensation, that radiates up into the back of my head. It is uncomfortable to turn my head from side to side. My lower back and shoulders have been achy, which comes and goes. New symptoms are cramps in lower legs and achy calves. I do read alot and have my head down but this has never happened before and I have been reading all my life. I do spend several hours a day on the computer but don't feel that is it. I take something for anxiety, so that is not it. I am 64 and in good health maybe a little over weight. (aren't we all). lol. I am trying this before I go to the doctor. Any suggestions?

Hello,
One possibility for your symptoms is cervical spondolysis. This can cause compression of the nerves and hence pain and tingling sensations.Diagnosis can be confirmed by x-ray neck or MRI spine.

Apply warm compresses on the area and take some over the counter anti-inflammatory pain killer like ibuprofen or diclofenac. Application of topical muscle relaxants will also help. Cervical spondolysis also responds to anti-inflammatory drugs and cervical collars.
It is also advisable to use a proper sized pillow for neck support while sleeping, avoid lifting heavy weights, include diets rich in calcium, vitamins to daily routine, mild exercises of the shoulder and neck if there is no pain.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
