Pain in Shoulder Numbness in fingers and upper back

Hi im 27 years old and have been dealing with pains in my shoulder for over a year now. I went to see my work doctor and was told it was tendonitis, the doctor told me to take ibuprofen, put me out of work for a while and gave me some physical therapy. The pain never really went away. I have an achy pain in the back and front of my shoulder and I have been getting alot of numbness from my middle finger to my small finger on my right hand. I've also been getting pins and needles in my upper back on the right side and pins and needles in my lower left back. The other day I tried to play catch with a baseball and I had a real difficult time. One of my throws from a longer distance sent me to a hunch in pain.(was also my last throw) I played baseball right through college and never had a problem with my arm. I have seen my doctor recently and they have made an appointment with a shoulder specialist but I have to wait until 7/22 to see him. All my primary doctor could say is I have some disruption of the rotator cuff. I do have full range of motion with my arm and pretty good strength but it is starting to affect things I do everyday. Reaching for things, talking on my cell phone etc. I've done alot of rotator cuff excercises to try and keep my arm strong. The shoulder is what worries me the most but I dont know if the other symptoms are related. Any input would be appreciated. Thanx

Hi,

How are you?
Your symptoms are suggestive of nerve compression. It can be at the level of the shoulder or the neck.
Pins and needles in your lower and upper back also suggest nerve compression at the level of the neck as well the lower back.
A Ct scan or an MRI will help in diagnosis. The pain in shoulder could be due to rotator cuff injury like you have mentioned. Other cause can be shoulder dislocation.
Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Do keep us posted!

if you find a solution, please please please email me, because i have experienced the same thing for several years now, with same types of treatment, and answers from doctor, and now my hands are numb all the time, I am trying holoistic meds now, becauese I am beside myself with pain and frustration!!!!! I think the problem is actually in my neck, but they always want to treat my shoulder! I did find an article vistamagonline.com that seems pertinent and I am taking it to my doctor. It discussed some kind of "35 points of pressure that need systematic release". I figure it's work a try.
