I'm a 17 year old female and I've been diagnosed with muscle atrophy, but my pain is right below my last rib on the right side. Do you think it is your muscle? Because I have this pain now because they messed up my muscle when I was younger when had surgery on that area. I know that one treatment they can do to stop the pain is go in and block the nerve endings. I'm sorry if this doesnt help.
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain in the upper left abdomen can be due to stomach issues (GERD or hiatal hernia), spleen issues, due to an abscess below the left diaphragm, a hematoma (localized collection of blood), an abscess, or a muscle pull. . Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions (if you had previous abdominal surgery, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia. There is a possibility that there is a stone in the urinary system. This also causes pain that can be felt in groin and hip area.
Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
My brother had the same symptoms and finally went o the doctor only to be told he had a yeast infection.
On Friday I had a CT scan and kidney function test done to check for Kidney stones or issues with the organs surrounding the kidney. The tests came back negative indicating that I don't have kidney stones and that my kidneys are functioning normally. The doctor has recommended physical therapy to address the possibility of pain related to muscular injury. The pain doesn't feel like a muscle injury, and to be honest, my doctor really doesn't seem to confident in his treatment plan and I doubt his ability to help me. This past weekend the pain was very sharp in my left side and lower left back. I'd like to seek the help of a specialist, but I don't know where to start. Do any medical professionals have any suggestions.
