Hello,

Various possibilities are there for  these kind of symptoms. Sharp pain under the rib cage that worsens after eating points to gallbladder disease. Types of gallbladder disease include gallstones and inflammation of the gallbladder.Liver disorder may cause such kind of pain. Liver function tests as well as an abdominal ultrasound would be a reasonable approach to investigate this.

Second possibility is of gastresophageal reflux disease or hiatal hernia or peptic ulcers. You need upper GI endoscopy to diagnose it.

Thisd possibility is of underlying lung pathology which is pressing upon the diaphragm and causing pain.CT chest may be needed.Chronic pancreatitis, cardiac pathologies and Functional abdominal pain syndrome (FAPS) may also cause this kind of pain.

Splenic enlargement and ovarian cysts in females can also cause such pain.
It would be better to get CT abdomen done which can clear cut confirm a diagnosis from the above possibilities.Pls consult a gastroenterologist and get CT abdomen done.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I have had a sharp pain on my left side under the ribs and I assume near the heart. So fairly similar. You have to mention other symptoms like shortness of breath paralysis on one side before It can be definitive.

I had a near collapsed lung in my 20s which cause the same symptoms as your describing which reduced merely by taking some time out and relaxing. I think the possibilities are a trapped nerve or nervous system problem, partially collapsed lung (ie air from your lung getting trapped and is unable to get released) or a heart problem.

The last two have some quite serious other symptoms such as shortness of breath.
