Passing blood

Hey,
For quite a while now I have noticed that after going to the toilet (back passage) there has been a small amount of blood on the tissue. From looking this up on the internet I presumed this was just due to a fissure, so I wasn't worried. Sometimes I can feel that there is a cut there anyway...if the skin is stretched for any reason.
This has persisted for the last year almost i'd say, and the last time there was quite a lot of blood, even some in the bowl.
Also, it is often quite sore to go to the toilet.
Could anyone please help? Might this be fissures or should I be more worried?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Since there is blood which you can see, it is coming from the lower gut. This can happen in hemorrhoids, rectal polyps, diverticulosis (outpouchings from the bowel wall), inflammatory bowel disease, or dysentery.
In hemorrhoids the blood falls after the stool. In fissures it lines the stools. In all other problems the blood is mixed with stools.
Please consult a doctor and you may need an examination of the rectum and anus to find the cause. Take care!

If it's bright red it is probably coming from close to the exterior, if it is darker red it is deeper inside.  I would go to a gastrointerologist.  It would probably be a good idea to get a colonoscopy.  don't take it lightly and brush it off.  i dont want to scare you but you never know.
