Plavix, HELP?

I was in a terrible car accident causing me to be in the hospital for one month and now leaving me on Plavix for 5 months so far. i have had many of the side effects; nausea, dizziness, fatigue, easy bruising etc. but lately something came up that shocked me, i don't know how long they have been there for, but my throat had been hurting for about 2 weeks and i looked in my mouth and saw white lesions and ulcers in my mouth. The first thing i did was go to the doctor, because i do have a boyfriend and you never know right? The doctor told me it was herpes, and did a swab of the infected area. He also told me, even if the test comes back negative it's still herpes and that it would be gone in about a week since i probably had already had it for about 2 weeks. i talked to my boyfriend, we waited it out, its been almost 2 months now. I don't know if there is still a possibility of herpes, but i read on a few places in small cases stomatitis is a side effect in people, and since stomatitis causes lesions and ulcers sometimes... is it possible its from my medication?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, it is possible that you have stomatitis, iron deficiency, Vit B deficiency or gastric reflux. All can cause white patches or even ulcers in mouth. Take a multivitamin pill with B complex and iron and see if it helps. You can also take antacids and Omeprazole if you have reflux. Since you are having bruising, it can become serious, and hence talk to your treating doctor about dose adjustment.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination of mouth and treatment regarding stomatitis, deficiencies and reflux. Please do not self medicate.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

My husband is on Plavix ( Clopidogrel ) for last 4 months but did NOT have any side effect of
mouth ulcer or any kind of stimatitis.  He is on this medication since it's required as a blood thinner after angioplasty/stent procedure.  He gets bruising easily but that is expected.
To me,  Plavix is not the reason of your symptoms but your doctor can certainly guide you.
