Please help

I am 33 year old female. For about 1 year and a half I have had red in bowel movements, sometimes they are bright red other times they are maroonish color and can also be clotty looking. I have had abdominal ultrasound which included, kidneys, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, bile duct, and aorta. Also had abdoman ultrasound done and a vaginal ultrasound done. All was normal. They ran alot of bloodwork and said it was all normal. They also checked for h-pylori and it was normal. I have been having weird pains in upper right side under breast and it go around directly on my side, and in lower back. Weird. Well, I had went to dr and they did a rectal exam and then the small amount of stool on glove he checked it for blood and it was negative. So then my dr referred me to a colon doctor and he did a rectal with some lighted scope and he said it was fine. But he wanted me to have a colonoscopy done, to find out where bleedings coming from. I figured he would have said sigmoidoscopy (not sure if spelt correct) but maybe try some different meds, before throwing me into colonoscopy. No family history. I am not enimic. No weight loss, no appetite loss. I have lots of burning in my stomach. If any one has ideas of what else I could do, let me know please. I do take nexium. Please help.

I think you can be symptomless for quite some time with colon cancer.  My colonoscopy showed hemorrhoids and later, they told me I wasn't cleaned out enough, so now I have a barium enema scheduled.

If I had colon cancer would there be other symptoms by now. I feel like i have tender spots sometimes on different parts of stomach like i guess right around where gall bladder would be. I have heard that heartburn gas stuff like that an cause tenderness as well. What did your colonoscopy come back with.  I really am scared of colon cancer cause of the bleeding, but not being anemich the dr said that was real good.

I too have rectal bleeding and first did an occult blood test (positive times three) before agreeing to the colonoscopy.  A colonoscopy, if you are cleaned out properly (which I learned I wasn't, so now they ordered a barium enema) is good for the doctor looking for polyps and more and he/she can actually go ahead and remove polyp(s) if found for biopsy.  I became convinced to do the colonoscopy, even though it had not been ten years from the last one (I'm in my 30s).  If you did have colon cancer, if they catch it early, there is a very high success rate with treatment.  If they find it late, I think it was like an 8 percent survival rate.

I also had lots of burning in my stomach.  I got an endoscopy done for that, which showed esophagitis and gastritis.  Also, I had a barium swallow test done because of swallow issues, which showed the acid coming up my throat, despite high doses of ranitidine.  The lady conducting the test mentioned the pancreas, wondering if I had gotten it checked.  I hadn't gotten it checked of late, so I requested the doctor to order a fasting blood gastrin level (so I could find out about if I might have Zollinger Ellison syndrome).  He had me be off the ranitidine for a few days, which was torture to my throat.  I sucked on fisherman's friends drops at times for some relief.  I am waiting for results of that test.
