chronic conjunctivitis

My right eye keeps turning red for more than a month now. I have seen an ophtamologist about it, had many tests done, including blood tests (not within range- fibrinogen 600, ESR 45, ASLO 273 ) and I have taken   antibiotics for14 days (an infectious disease doctor prescribed them to me). The redness goes away for several days, only to return one morning ( like today) without any apparent cause. I am really frightened that something serious may be an underlying cause. Can you help me?

I looked up some more information on eye infections - it can also be caused by diabetes mellitus, or some other metabolic disease.  Have your thyroid and parathyroid checked.   -  Hope it isn't serious.

The ophthalmologist said it might be dry eyes, among other things. The Schirmer test backed up her supposition but she said we had to look deeper into the matter. I truly hope it is only dry eyes.

I had similar eye condition for years. It was dry eyes but sometimes it gets inflamed. . My Eye Doctor prescribed Neopolymyxin Dexamethasone Opthalmic ointment thin layer to be applied to lashes for 3 weeks on the affected eye.. It worked. I have refill orders so it can be on hand if and when I need it again.
You could suggest this to your MD.

Thank you very much for your answer. I do not have diabetes, nor thyroid problems, which only makes it more troublesome for me because I cannot identify the cause.Lack of vitamin A may be an issue. I'll have it checked.

Because your eye infection keeps coming back it could be a lack of Vitamin A.  Vitamin A is necessary for eye health along with Lutein and Bilberry.

I hope this helps and that your infection clears up.
