Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, it can be hemorrhoids. It can also be rectal polyps (one can develop since colonoscopy last year, even though chance is less), diverticulosis (outpouchings from the bowel wall), inflammatory bowel disease, or dysentery. Your husband should consult his doctor again. Take care!
My mother has had hemmorrhiods since I was born. She gets that very same feeling. She will complain of stomach pain then run to the bathroom and starts bleeding. The hemmorrhoid had bursted open. It can be harmful if you start bleeding to much but usually it goes away pretty quickly. She recently discussed with her Dr. about having them removed and heard that the process is extremely simple. Have him discuss having the hemmorrhoid removed with his Dr. and if the problem continues then you will know for sure that there is something else going on. I hope it all works out.
I used to work at a gastroenterologist office and all the doc there did was colonoscopies and egd's. that sounds like it could be a hemmorrhoid and i would say thats probably what it is depending on how recent the colonoscopy is. from what the doc used to tell me 9 times out of 10 its hemorrhoids but there is still always a chance it could be somethin else. i would say for him to or you to call his physician or the nurse and express what happend if they feel its somethin to worry about they will have him come in. hope this helps.
Hemmerhoids, polyps, stricture, partial blockage.
Honestly, any instances of rectal bleeding (bright red blood or brown, coffee-ground-like blood) should be invesetigated by a doctor. It may be nothing but a hemmerhoid again, but do you want to take that chance?
