Have you looked up Discoid Lupus?
Don't worry, it's not usually like Systemic Lupus. For most, it only affects the skin. It can be diagnosed by a skin biopsy from one of the sores.
Try this site, it has lists of different skin disorders, with linked pictures.

I googled petechiae, and it doesn't look like that's it. The marks my mom has aren't pinpoint red dots. More like pinkish circles with scales over them -- more like flakey circles, really. Her arms and legs had them, but now the pinkness seems to have disappeared there and what remains is the flakey whiteness.
Yes thats how it is spelled and thats the condition I was reffering to. Thanx
I didn't get a super close look at it, but I will when I see her again in a couple of weeks. She says it's not painful, and that she has been taking some Eastern medicine from an herbalist. She says it's healing. No pain at all, no itchiness. It just looks awful, and I'm definitely going to convince her to see a doctor about it.
Is the condition that you are refering to petechiae?
Petechiae are pinpoint-sized red dots under the surface of the skin. The dots are red because they contain blood that has leaked from tiny blood vessels - capillaries - into the skin.
I am not sure this is what you were referring to, as the symptoms do not seem to be the same.
It almost sounds like Psoriasis. However, you did not mention if it was painful or not. It could also be eczema.
Psoriasis may begin with small red bumps that eventually grow into large patches of dry skin that flake off in scales. Patches of affected skin often are symmetrical, meaning that they are present in the same place on both sides of the body.
Although the most common body areas affected are the arms, leg, back, and scalp, psoriasis can be found on any body part. Psoriasis can be found on the genitals or buttocks, under the breasts, or under the arms. These areas can feel especially itchy or burning.
I hope this helps. She should really have it checked out. There are several differnt things it could be. She needs to see a dermatologist.
Best wishes,
Amanda
Petachea? Is that the right spelling? I'm trying to Google it and only 2 entries show up. Thanks for the responses, guys.
Sounds like petachea. She should go see a doc to do some blood work.
It could be something as simple as eczema, or severe dry skin. If your Mom is going through menopause, hormonal changes can cause unusually dry skin. Your best bet is to convince your mom to see a dermatologist just to rule out anything more serious.
