Regrow hair lost through masturbation

I started masturbating when I was around 12 years old and have done so nearly every day until now. (I'm currently 16).
I know this is my fault but from having a head full of hair and being a very good looking kid, I've now lost around an inch on each side of my hairline.
It's actually horrible, I feel sick looking in the mirror and don't like going to school.
I know some people will say 'theres no link between masturbation and hair loss', but there is!
I've also gone from having nearly perfect vision to having glasses and had a period of warts on my scalp!

But thats not my main concern. I've now stopped masturbating, but would love nothing more in the world than to have my hair back!
Is there anyway it could grow back?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Iron deficiency is the commonest cause of hair loss. Iron deficiency can be due to poor intake or poor absorption or due to hidden loss from bleeding as is seen in UTI and gut problems like IBS. The cause of anemia has to be found out by various blood tests. Iron replacement along with diet rich in iron and hemoglobin should be given. Please consult a hematologist if iron deficiency is detected. Hair loss can also be due to dandruff, dermatitis, shampoos, oils, soaps, dust and dirt etc. Thyroid disorders and diabetes too could be a cause. Insomnia, stress and anxiety along with poor diet and excess of caffeine too can be the cause.  Yes, increased bilirubin can cause hair loss. This happens mainly in hereditary hemochromatosis which is a genetic condition in which excess iron is absorbed from the gut and stored in various parts of the body. Since you have boils kind of things, you probably have a bad case of seborrhagic dermatitis. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor.  A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Take care!

I also know of no connection between masturbation and hair loss.  I would more likely think there was a connection between the warts you had on your scalp and the hair loss than anything.

I would defintely suggest going to your doctor and having the matter looked into - or better yet, see about getting a referral to a dermatologist - they would be the type of doctor most knowledgeable about the causes of hair loss.

Best of luck.

My advice to you would be to see your doctor and bring the matter up. It's best to just be honest and let the doctor know how you feel. As ashleydavies1988 has said, it could be due to stress and it's not good to develop anxiety.

There are things out there now to help grow hair back, and you're young so don't fret until you get an actual medical opinion, heck get several.

To be honest though, I see no connection between masturbation and hair loss... considering the amount of people that masturbate and have no hair loss issues.

hiya hunni,

im pretty sure there is no link between hair loss and masturbation, because wouldnt that mean that sex causes hair loss? you dont say whether your a girl or boy but im thinking ur a boy. u also dont say if you've been to the doctors. stress can cause hair loss so i hope your not stressing yourself out? because that can cause anxiety which is really nasty. i have a male friend who is 23, ive been friends with him about 4 years and he's always had a completely shaved head because he lost most of his hair really young, i dont know about any further family but his dad and his 35 yr old brother both have a full hair of head. my boyfriend is receding a lot aswel, he just has to have a grade 2 hair cut as it looks quite bad when it gets long.. he's 22 and he is scared about it, but unfortunately i think its just something you have to deal with :(  it wont grow back but its possible to get implants when your older, but i think surgery is a horrible road to go down..... getting glasses at your age is not uncommon, it happens! maybe try a short hair cut? i wish you the best of luck tho bab, please dont develop anxiety or depression through worrying though, they are long term terrible things to have xxx
