If you're both having this, it could be a saliva reaction w/
your fabric softener or residual soap? If you're ill, take
pillow case into Dr in a zip-bag & see if they can send some
particles to ID or just get a saliva/mouth swab test? If it's
not a day problem, I'd just mention concern to doc at next appt.

Thanks for your advice on the drooling,i however want to know about this thick whitish background and the smell,is it normal?i also usually drool just before sleeping and the biggest worry for me now is with my 8 year old son, who is also experiencing the same condition, could it be genetic?hoping to get more help.

We're all different. Some drool/have dry mouth/sleep with our
mouth closed & drains dwn throat. Be glad you drool. If it
backed-up, you'd get infection/cavities/pain. The Parotid Gland
is just in front of your ears & regulates msgs to fibers that
sweep saliva/mucus of mouth & sinuses. Your maxillary sinus
makes fluid every 30 min all day/night. Mouth movements will
stimulate more. Don't worry unless you find this happening
while awake. Gd-luck.
