Severe Head Pain, Any Help Appreciated

Going on 3 weeks now Ive had severe pain on the base of the right side of my head where my head meets my neck. The pain is constant and limits me from turning my head. When i do move my head i get a sharp stabbing pain that radiates upward (tingles) and towards my right ear and lower jaw. Ive experienced ringing ears, ear pain, dizziness and fatigue on top of it all. I have been unable to work for the duration of the symptoms and I have been visiting my FNP regularly. Originally I was diagnosed with Herpetic Neuralgia and given an Anti-viral and pain meds. After a week I returned to my FNP and was given the highest dose of Antibiotics (Augmentin 875mg). I have finished both my antiviral and antibiotic with no relief. I was sent in for an MRI with no contrast 4 days ago and my FNP says the results were normal and referred me to a Neurologist. What can I expect and can any light be shed on what this could possibly be? Will I require further testing or could it possibly still be shingles?Any information will be appreciated.

Trigeminal neuralgia and PHN are the main conditions to be thought of in your case. If you did have a preceding vesicular rash along this dermatome the second is most probable.

The neurologist has no idea what it could be. Turns out I had a CT scan and not an MRI. He doesnt think its anything inside my head but he also doesnt think its Herpetic Neuralgia. I was given a couple rounds of new drugs. Something for facial pain and another for Epilepsy and he referred me to a pain management specialist. Ive been on the drugs for almost three days now and still no relief, actually I feel all around more ill. I'm hoping for the best but this is starting to get ridiculous with how much work I am missing.

I've already received an MRI but the Neurologist will probably send for another with contrast this time. I love my FNP but it might be better to get a specialist to look at the results I think.
