Severe Headaches, Fever, Chills

Hi Doc. I've got sever sever headaches, fever, Chills. I went to the ER they took ct scan on my head, spinal tap, blood work and everything came back normal. Then they took a chess x-ray and saw that I have pneumonia. My question is can pneumonia cause all of this? Or do I need to worry further?

Thanks for your quick response. But I just wanna tell you about my headaches. It's so sever that I can't even get out of bed. The hospital so far only gave me 1 dose of antibiotics and It didn't help. Tonight I'm getting another one.

Yes, pneumonia can cause the symptoms you're experiencing.  Fever alone can cause chills and headache.

I'm presuming they have put you on an antibiotic for the pneumonia?  When did you go to the ER?  If it's been more than just a couple of days and you're on antibiotics, you definitely should check in with your primary care doctor - if the antibiotics haven't helped you feel any better after a few days, you may need a different one.  It's important to remember, though, that even if you start to feel better before your course of antibiotics is finished, you MUST finish the entire course, or else your infection (pneumonia) may come back.

If the ER did NOT put you on antibiotics, I still suggest you check in with your primary care doc and see if he/she thinks you should be put on some.

By all means, if you start feeling worse before you can get in to see your regular doc, return to the ER - especially if you start experiencing difficulty breathing or worsening cough or fever.

I hope you feel better soon!
