Severe chest pain and tightness; Pain goes into shounder, neck, jaw, and arm

I'm a nineteen year old female and all my life I have experienced pain in my left chest when exercising. It's recently gotten worse and has spread into my arm, shoulder, neck, and sometimes my jaw, and it takes forever for the pain to go away.. I also have a constant tightness in my middle chest, and I cannot take a deep breath. What could all of this mean?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A pain in the chest radiating to arms, back or jaw should be first investigated for heart problem. An EKG should be done. This could be exercise induced angina. You must get your doctors to follow this up further.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thank you all. I talked to my doctor and he said it could be my heart but it could also be a bad reaction to psychiatric medication. Does that sound  right? I have Kaiser, so I rarely trust what they say, and it's impossible to get a second opinion.

Hi.
I would say you need to see your doctor, for a referral to a cardiologist for a good thorough work up.
You need extensive testing to rule out a heart condition or lung problem.
I say go and get tested as you may need some medication to help you feel better and stop this pain from arising,
I know your only young , but this still needs addressing, so you can feel better.
There are allsorts of tests to find out what the problem is, like a echoscan, ECG, stress test, and lung function tests, along with bloods.
Please see your doctor to get this sorted.
Take care
Nicola

I would say go see a cardiologist because you could have a heart problem you don't even know about even if you are young . Not to scare you it's just better safe then sorry . If you have a bad episode again I STRONGLY suggest going to the ER and having your heart ruled out .

you may have exercise-induced asthma; only thing i can think of.  my boyfriend has it.
the pain could be just generally from working your muscles, however i do feel the jaw pain could be a little odd.  try to see a doctor.  best of luck.  (:
