Pain in groin

I am 40 year old female a little overweight, and a few days ago I woke up with pain in my left groin area ( like where the underwear lie)  It does not hurt to walk, but it is sensitive to the touch and my skin in very sensitive.  The pain has also moved to the outside of my hip, I could not lay on that side last night, but only when I touch it.  At first I was not to concerned, but now I am wondering if it could be a blood clot in the groin.  I have no noticeable swelling and no pain anywhere unless I press on the underwear line on my groin or hip.  No redness, when I take Ibuprofen or Aspirin the pain seems to lessen.  Any thoughts should I be concerned.  Oh I should mention on Sunday I was helping to carry a christmas tree to the basement and I stepped on the pant leg of my left leg, and had to pull the left leg a bit hard to move it to the next step, so I guess it is possible I strained that muscle, but I did not hear any popping noise and have no other symptoms of a pulled groin.  Any ideas would be appreciated

Shingles do present in a form of a rash and run along the nerve and cause pain.

You are probably already aware, but do remember to keep away from children that have not had chicken pox and pregnant ladies.  Be cautious until you know for definite what this is.

You should make an appointment to see your doctor for a correct diagnosis.  Although there is no cure for shingles, there is some medication to ease the pain and you doctor would prescribe the appropriate medication for you.

Best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Yes it started that night I woke up and it was hurting.  I have done some more research and I think I have Shingles, because I forgot to mention I also woke up the next morning with what looked like a bunch of bites on my left bottom cheek :-) but the weird part was that they were all in a line.  So it may be a combo of stained muscle and shingles

Did this problem come on since the Sunday after your mishap?
If so, then it is likely to be a muscular issue.

If there is sensitivity to the touch and pain, it could be an infection called cellulitis.

As your sensitive area is spreading, see your doctor for a correct diagnosis so that you can deal with the issue correctly and get the correct medication if it is an infection.

Best wishes.
