Strange lump underneath skin near shoulder blade

Hello All,

I was born with a strange lump on my right shoulder blade underneath my skin. Since it's exactly where my birth mark is, it's rather dark and sometimes looks a little vein-y (the color is close to that of a bruise), but nothing like a strawberry mark. Since I was born with it, it was nothing developed, and did not just "appear" one day. When I was younger it was softer, and larger, about an oval that's 1.5-2 inches wide. It would hurt (a dull pain) whenever it was touched, and it was very sensitive. Now however (I'm almost 20), it shrunk and is about 1 inch in diameter. It also became more firm, but is still slightly squishy to touch. It also rarely hurts, but recently it has been acting up and causing a bit of pain. It also has "moved", more to the right of my back, still near my shoulder blade but more close to my arm pit. When I got it checked by my doctor as a child, she told me it was nothing to worry about, but that was many years ago. It has "morphed", and has not disappeared, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any idea what it could be? Should it be a cause for concern?

Thank you in advance,
Amy

Don't be afraid to go to the doctor. It sounds like something you should have removed bt not that it is life threatening at this point. You have had this for a long time without any incident until now.  I suggest having another doctor look at it. You should get a second opinion regarding what it is rather than accepting a vague answer like "nothing to worry about".  Best to you!

Hi,

I was born with a tab mole on my neck that was sometimes painful. I work in a large hospital and the looks of it bothered my Department Head more than it did me but he contacted a surgeon who removed it by laser. I had it removed during a break and was back on the job with a bandaid very shortly after. Contact your doctor; it was a simple office procedure for me. Good luck.

Yes i would definitely get it checked out just because it is starting to cause more pain than b4, my husband has one on his side and it is the size of a golf ball and he is so stubborn he wont get it checked out, even if it is just a fatty tumor, those are usually what they call them but my be cancerous, i really would get it checked out anyway.
