Swelling down left leg

I have a slight (2-3 cent) swelling down my right leg. It started with my calf being swollen, I had a Venus study(?) for a blood clot and they didn't find anything. I also had a MRI on my left calf, no clot, no fluid, no growth and the muscle looks normal. Now i have a hard knot on my knee cap and my foot seams larger also. I sometimes have pain in my right hip, but am told it's not connected to the swelling. Also one of the veins on the inside of my right foot is popped out all the time now. Both my doctor and the Ortho don't know what's causing it.I have had no trauma to the area.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!

This happens in inflammation of the calf muscles or myositis. Tiny micro tears in the muscle due to improper stretching force the muscle to go into spasm. Compartment syndrome is another possibility when the muscle becomes too big for the sheath that covers it. In all these cases proper blood does not reach the muscle, which tightens up to protect itself. Thus this makes it difficult to put pressure on the heels and you are forced to walk on toes. Consult an orthopedic specialist or a sports medicine specialist.
A swelling in the calf can be due to several other causes. It could be a varicose vein with a clot (a duplex ultrasound should be done for this and maybe this was done, please confirm with the doctor), ruptured Achilles heel, infection and trauma. Skin cancer can be another cause. Filariasis is another possibility, though usually there is a history of fever. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult a doctor and get this investigated.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
