Swollen half of upper or lower lip

About 20 years ago, one evening, I noticed half of my upper lip was beginning to swell.  This was not long after supper.  There was no pain, just a swelling.  Odd that it was only one side and not the entire lip.  The following morning, it was perhaps slightly larger, but by midday, it was gone.

This occurred over the course of a few weeks and then as suddenly as it started it just stopped.

About ten or so years later, it began again.  But I recall it happened only once or twice.

Now it is occurring again.  But this time it has been off and on over the past year.  Most recently yesterday.

During all three periods, it would only occur in one half of one lip, so a quarter of my mouth.  One time did it 'progress' from one side of my lip one evening, recede the following morning only to move to the other side of the lip.

What is truly odd is that this always begins in the evening and is gone by the following midday.  It has never begun in the morning or early afternoon and in all cases, short of the one time above, always gone by midday.

I don't have allergies or any kind, I eat healthy am in good health and shape according to my physician.  I have yet to discuss this with him as I would need an appointment to see him with the swollen lip and it doesn't last long enough.

Any thoughts on this?

It' so crazy but I have had this happen about 3-4 times in my life, no trauma, no new foods, but my lip swells up like a grape just on one side. The lip is usually mildly itchy, but nothing too bad. I chocked it up to inappropriate cytokine/ histamine response, both cause swelling and mild itching. Maybe I was eating too aggressively, bumped my lip with the fork and didn't notice but my body did.
