I just came across this site. I am experiencing sporadic thigh pain that almost causes me to fall if I am walking and it happens. I was wondering if you found any answers for yours? I am getting desperate as my son is getting married in May and I want to feel good. Please let me know if you have any answers for me.
Hello,
Without examination, confirming a diagnosis is tough but the various possibilities for your symptoms are groin pull or adductor tendonitis(inflammation of the tendon), pulled hamstrings muscles, Iliopsoas strain or iliopsoas bursitis(inflammation of the bursae) , charley horse(painful muscle injury leading to severe muscle cramps) , piriformis syndrome(an irritation of the piriformis muscle, one of the smaller muscles lying under the large muscles of the buttocks) , nerve entrapment disorders, arthritis, stress fracture or avascular necrosis of the hip joint or any disorder of the lower spine.
Complete physical examination along with investigations like ESR blood, Rheumatoid factor, creatine kinase,x-rays /MRI hip joint, serum levels of vit D ,electromyography, nerve conduction tests and muscle biopsy may be needed to make a diagnosis.Pls consult an orthopedician or rheumatologist for that.Till then apply warm compresses and take some over the counter anti inflammatory pain reliever like ibuprofen(advil) or diclofenac. You can also apply topical antinflammatory creams.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
I am female, 21 years old, breastfeeding mother of 1 month baby, and with normal BMI, suffering severe pain in my right upper thigh almost every night. It was started when I was elementary grade. My suffering stopped for years, sometimes few months, the pain sporadically haunting. I am thinking the pain will sore - when I am working heavily at day, all-day standing, I am lying at a position, or when cold. the thigh is not swelling or reddenng. Any advise?
