Interesting. I had not thought of those. It seems that this happens (mainly) when I have to interact with people this confusion state occurs. I don't think it's the actual interaction, but I believe it's when I have to think intensely and interact -- using facial expressions, etc. It's about impossible to describe. So, I can almost know when it is going to happen again (really anytime I have to interact...)
I have had temporal lobe seizures for 20 years. You normally have an aura...you know when one is coming on...it feels like intense flashbacks and usually leaves you feeling sick to your stomach. It is very hard to describe I admit but a doctor can tell you much more about them. They are scary but manageable.
The symptoms you describe sound very similiar to temporal lobe seizures. You can have several of these per day and not even know what happened, they last a mere 5 - 30 seconds and generally not life threatening, however you need to be evaluated by a neurologist. A standard EEG(brain wave testing)may not initially pick up this type of seizure activity, it may require a 2-3 day study or even perhaps an overnite study.
Do you have diabetes or an underlying thyroid problem that you are aware of? Certain types of these conditions can cause seizures. Have you had any recent lab work done?
Not anxious or depressed. I have never really had allergy problems either. I am not on any medication, and I am 33.
The confusion is very hard to describe. When it comes on, I have this thunder sound in my ears (different from the ringing that has been constant) If I have a thought or am in the middle of talking, I have to pause for a moment to "get things back together". However, I am still aware of what's going on around me and it's not like a "black out" or anything.
I am so glad the MRI was normal, but these symptoms are really bugging me and I feel like there has to be something else going on serious...like neurological or etc.
Are you feeling anxious or depressed at all? The only reason I ask is that I have had similar symptoms and am putting it down to tenseness (scalp and shoulder tenseness can lead to odd pains in the head) and possibly allergy. Some medications can also give you those symptoms. Are you on anything? Also, it depends on your age too.
When you say "confusion" do you mean like you get if you get a fright ie like a panic attack?
A normal MRI is a good thing.
