Tricky combination pancreatitis and blood in urine

My father went into the hospital after abdominal pain kept him up an night, and was diagnosed with pancreatitis - so far so good.

But he also had blood in his urine which nobody has a good explanation for - someone guessed that he had both a gall stone and kidney stone at the same time (??) neither of which he has a history for. The gall stone will often cause pancreatitis as it passes and irritates the pancreas, I understand.

What could possibly cause both?
