Unexplained Weight Loss

I am a 5' 2" 17 year old girl that has been experiencing unexplained weight loss for around 6 months. I weighed around 105lbs. at my heaviest and now currently weigh around 85lbs. I have an appetite and am consuming over 2,000 calories a day but cannot seem to gain an ounce. I also have progressive weakness and muscle fatigue and I feel cold all the time. My other symptoms include hair loss, salt craving/taste loss?, severe constipation, sleep disturbances, abdominal pain and nausea. My blood pressure is consistently low at around 80/50. After running tests at my local hospital I discovered my thyroid hormones were lower but within range, both my am and pm cortisol were very elevated and my zinc was low but within range. All other blood work checked out normal. I currently take an oral contraceptive and am on no other medications. Does anyone have an idea as to what this could be?

I agree with remar.  My doctor kept tellling me my thyroid levels were low but not enough for concern, so I saw an Endocrinoligist.  She was angry because I had hypothryoidism.  Your endocrine systems impacts every organ in your body, and if one thing is out of whack it has a domino effect. The doctors you see in an emergency room are not specialists in what may be wrong with you, it can be anyone from a Pulmonist to a Nephrologist, just doing their time in the ER. Please see an Endo ASAP.

You need to see an Endocrinologist that will listen to your symptoms. The tests you need for your thyroid are TSH, FT3, FT4 and antibodies. Even though they say your within "normal range' this might not be a normal range for you.
An Endo can also test you for diabetes. You sound like you may have some of the symptoms of that.
If your cortisol levels were elevated that means adrenal issues. That should be dealt with before they start you on thyroid meds, if you do happen to have thyroid problems.
Can you post your thyroid results here, or in the thyroid forum? If they did'nt give you your results you can call them or stop by to pick them up.   Remar
