Unknown pain

Hello, my nephew has been having sudden pains all around his body for slightly over one month. So far the pain is unknown and it just suddenly began to occur. He is about to be 10 years old in less than a month. His pains come quickly, on average every 5 minutes. The pain is not always the same, sometimes it is very painful, sometimes not so much, but still painful. As aforementioned the pains he experiences come quickly and suddenly, with no warning, but the pains simply come and go -- it hurts, then it goes away, simple as that. The pain lengh lasts anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds.

The areas in which he experiences or has experienced these pains are in the
- chest/heart
- ears
- teeth
- throat
- penis
- stomach
- legs

As of now he seems to only suffer these pains in his ears, chest/heart, penis and teeth the most, and more painful than before when it comes to those body areas.  When he had pain in his legs, he was unable to stand/walk well, and mostly had to stay seated or laid down. If he tried to walk/stand the pain would trigger automatically, so we had to always assist him. This lasted for about a week and a half, then the pains in his legs seemed to have simply stopped and he can now walk and move around freely.

When it comes to his ears, sometimes (recently not as much as before) he is briefly be unable to hear clearly and would also sometimes have a ringing noise, or as if someone yelled is his ear very very loudly. He says his teeth pain feels like something is "grinding" them. His pains don't always happen is the same area or sometimes his pains trigger simultaneously is different areas. Every time he has pains he feels the need to shout or yell because it hurts.

He has had a blood test, bone marrow test and urine test and all of the results were normal. The doctors don't know what is causing his pains. Aside from the the tests he's had so far, his had check ups with the doctors, So far the doctors don't know what it is.

So my guess is that what he has is something that is hard to diagnose. And after doing some research I can't find a viable explanation, except for nerve inflammation or swollen lymph nodes. We did take him to someone who specializes in massaging and said something similar. After the massage treatment he seemed to have less frequent and less painful pains for about 2 days. After that the pains got back the the same as they were before, and they;ve slowly seemed to be getting worse. It's really hard to know what it is, so please any help is greatly appreciated. Is there doctors that specialize in anything I've mentioned perhaps?

Glad to hear that your nephew will be seeing a specialist and do hope that the specialist recognises his symptoms, get to the root of your nephew's ill health so that he can get the appropriate treatment.

Ensure that his parents are aware that he does drink plenty of juices and water.  It is very important for your nephew not to get dehydrated, even though he may not feel like eating much, the fluid intake is more important.  Children like jelly (jello).

Children can appear to "pick up", but that can sometimes be short lived.  So although he may appear a little better, he actually may not be.  I do hope though that he is on the mend.

Let us know how he gets on.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Best wishes to you too for being a caring and concerned uncle.

Thank you both for your condolences and help, greatly appreciated. My nephew has been somewhat better I think, but it's really hard to know what better is in his case. Also, he'll be seeing a specialist soon and thanks once again.

So sorry your little nephew is in pain.  No body likes to hear that it could be this or that...
Lupus can strike at any age and I would suggest that the next set of labs include ANA.  Lupus is a disease that is very hard to diagnose.  Please make an appointment with a rheumatologist to rule out Lupus.

     Wishing you the best outcome...

Sorry to hear your nephew is not well.

Has he been checked out for worms and parasites?
I do not know which country you are in, but children playing outdoors, can pick up parasites and worms and get bites from tics or other bugs.
If he has been swimming outdoors he may have picked up something from the water.

For his ear and teeth pain, it would be a good idea if he has not already had this done, is to get his teeth, ears and throat examined.  The pains he gets in his ears may be from congestion and pressure in the Eustachian tube, this would also cause loss of hearing.

Hope that a cause if found so that he can make a speedy recovery.

Best wishes.
