Unusual Hypoglycemic Like Symptoms

My friend has the following symptoms during a 2-3 hour "episode"
-Shakes
-Cold sweat
-weakness
-tremor in voice
-some confusion but still lucid
-Vomits up anything he eats, no nasea at all, his body just rejects anything of sustinence, including drinks other than water

He has had a couple of them, about a month apart.  He has to lay down for a couple hours and they pass.
The last one he tested his blood sugar and it was normal, not Hypoglycemia, unless you can have Hypoglycemia with normal blood sugar levels.  He is also an avid ecig vapor user, but nicotine poisoning seems more severe, and he uses that thing all day every day without issues.

These are symptoms warranting a visit to the ER, rather than "laying down until they pass". Cold sweats on the forehead, of sudden inexplicable appearance are hallmarks of cardiac ischemia.

His blood sugar was normal at that specific time. Your blood sugar can suddenly drop even without diabetes. If this happens again have him eat or drink something with lots of sugar in it to see if it helps. Don't consume too much of this at one time, though as too much sugar can cause a stomach ache. Could also be a vitamin deficiency or sleep deprivation. If none of this is the cause ask him to cut on the vapor a little, like maybe cut he time in half to see if it helps anything.  On another note, nicotine poisoning is less severe in some people so the thought that he can't have it just because it seems like it would be more severe is pretty silly.
