Unusual pattern of shoulder erosion on MRI

I have had severe shoulder pain for about 2 years.  X-rays showed extensive calcification in distal roator cuff.  I had radial shock wave therapy done on it and follow up x-ray showed there was a marked decrease in calcification but there was a bony irregularity involving the greater tuberosity which they said was consistent with degenerative change (was not mentioned on first x-ray??).  The MRI I had done a month following last x-ray showed there to be a well defined erosion at the superolateral aspect of the humeral head near the greater tuberosity measuring 10 mm in diameter.  It said it is located deep to the border between the supraspinatous and infraspinatous tendon.  Their opinion was that there is a cystic focus in the humeral head which may contain amorphus calcification - this is an unusual pattern and could represent an aggresive form of enthesopathy or possible gout.  I had the gout ruled out by uric acid test.  What would be the best kind of specialist for me to see with these results and what do they possibly mean?  Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.  It's nice to be able to talk to someone who has been through this and understands.  Just wondered - did you also have bone erosion?  This is my biggest concern right now as they don't know what has caused that to happen.  They said it's an unusual pattern (MRI).  I did have the blood test for uric acid (neg.) and I have no symptoms of gout.  It's never been red and swollen.  Just very sore!  I will ask my dr. for further blood tests.  I see her tomorrow.  I ahve had the Sed rate done. It's at 26 (1-15 is normal).  My level is always between 25-32 and no one has been able to tell me why.  It has been getting better with regular physiotherapy and ultrasound treatments but will porbably never be 100%.  Do you lift the milk cartons, etc. overhead for exercise?  I can't seem to get my arm up there so was told to hold soup cans down low and make circles.  Would love to hear back from you with regards to the erosion question.  Thanks!
