Did you grandfather had any traumas? Did he smoke? What kind of tumor he had? What had he been working all life?
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
For the general population the brain tumors are not hereditary. Certain gilomas are inherited if there are certain syndromes running in the family such as Turcot’s syndrome, and Li-Fraumeni syndrome. If these syndromes do not run in the family, then brain tumors cannot be inherited. Hope this helps. Take care!
That's a "how many angels are on the head of a pin" issue.
The question you seem to be asking is whether or not there is a hereditary component to brain tumors, and the answer is, generally no.
I say "generally" because recent literature suggests that some families may have genetically impaired immune systems. In the lab we breed mice, for example, to be tumor-prone, for experimental purposes.
In humans this is very unlikely.
