What can constitute to inflammation of lower back

I am 54 years of age and I do suffer from a degeneration of the the lower back, namely L5/S1
I did an MRI and the ortho confirmed that I am suffering from a degeneration problem.  Now it has
been almost 15 years and I often suffer from inflammation and the physician had prescribed arcosia,(for inflammation) norgesic(muscle relexant) as well neurotin (for the nerves). Despite consuming all without fail I do still suffer from pain everyday.  Though I have learned to live with it, am still hopeful that someone out would be able to guide me..  I manage my weight and food quite well and do mild low impact exercise regularly.  Please advice if I have
left anything out. I would be glad to receive good professional advice too.  Thank you all out there.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If all the conservative measures are not helping you, then other option is surgery. Normally disc pains do not respond to conservative means beyond a point. Other possibility is traction. Ask your neurologist whether applying traction will help lift the pressure off the nerves. Nerve blocks and steroid injections can be tried. If this is not possible, then surgery is the only option. Do discuss this with your doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

my husband has exactly the same thing and like you just suffers with the pain, the docs says they cant do much else for him,i was wondering if swimming might ease it a bit, also i bought my husband one of those homeatherpy chairs they let out heat and massages at the same time when he uses it,which is rare he says it eases it.
