I have an interesting story to tell...and it's going to be long so make sure you have at least 10 minutes to read it.
Ok, well here's where it all began. One day I got out of bed feeling unusually tired... I was so tired I thought I would die, and though I was tried I was restless and couldn't sleep. So I got up and went to some stores with my mom and my sister. We got to the mall and it was REALLY hot, I was wearing all black, and I was SO tired. This lady offered to do my make up so I sat in the make up chair and was fine until about half way through. Then I stood up and my eyes got a bunch of little flashes in them and my hearing began to go. I was really weak and didn't know what I was saying, and could barely stand up. The lady gently sat me down in a chair until I recovered, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes and I felt better. Another one of the ladies brought me a sucker to suck on to help me feel better.
Then my mom and I walked to the food court to get something to eat. I had been starved all day and hadn't had anything to eat. So we got some food and I was a bit shaky and scared. Then after we ate we walked back to the car [ I was leaning on my mom all the way there] and we dropped my sister off and went straight home. Any who, I know what was wrong with me here. I almost fainted but didn't completely faint. I am telling you this because I think this is when I started getting sick.
After that I was a little shaken up. I mean.. seriously have you ever almost fainted? It's scary as hell. So for a couple of days I worried about that. So, throughout that month I stayed home the majority of the time because I felt very fatigued and tired all the time. I didn't know I was sick yet...
So after about 10 days when the fainting happened.. my mom and I went to a conference. I had been feeling bad all day and very fatigued and tired. We walked into the conference bout 6 o clock and I told my mom I wasn't feeling well, but she forced me to go. So, I was feeling crappy but I thought I could make it... then it happened. A horrible panic attack out of no where. I started panicking and I told my mom we needed to get out of here. So we walked outside the arena and I sat down and began to feel more calm. I was crying a bit and I asked my mom to pray, so she did and we went back in. We went back in and sat down... the panic had left me , but I still felt crappy. I eventually perked up and felt better. That night when we went home I was SO tired I just fell right to sleep the second my head hit the pillow.
The second day I woke up, feeling tired and sick as usual. We had to go to the women's conference a second day and I didn't want to. Yet I went, I didn't have any panic problems.. but I was very hot and sweaty and felt sick and lousy and didn't want to do anything. About noon we left and all was well.. we went home and I did whatever.
So,We went to the doctor and he gave me some Amoxacillin, which didn't help at all. He thought I had a bacterial infection so that's we he prescribed it. It gave me dizzy spells and made me feel worse, but it did take away the fatigue. So I was on that for...like a week. So I tried to live normal life when I was on the stuff. I had another panic attack when my mom and I went to Wall mart. It seems I have panic attacks on whatever I have when I get tired... weird I know.
After that about two weeks passed, and I was getting worse. My muscles started getting really sore all the time and I started developing bad head aches, including a mild fever from 99.0-99.5 . So, my mom and I went back to the doctor once again. He then prescribed Avelox which is a deadly medicine... I took like two days of it and felt horrible and I was getting weird thoughts and very depressed. I quit that medication cold turkey because it was so bad. My mom and I both thought I was getting better then... so my mom made me an appointment with a new doctor. She was really weird and was no help at all, she prescribed Amoxacillin again, just like the other doctor. My mom and I both new what she was saying was wrong so we never picked up the perscription. The weird lady doctor said I might not have enough protein and said to eat more bananas and drink more milk. Now, if you know anything about me you'd know I ALWAYS drink milk and eat bananas. I drink milk twice every day... so yea, she was just weird.
Any who, after all of that Wednesday rolled around and It was my mom's day off of work. I decided to go with her some places... and around lunch time I started getting really tired and I was so Freakin' achey!bmy whole body was hurting but I was hungry so we went to eat. When we sat down I started randomly getting really panicky for no reason. Out of no where, I was panicking so badly I felt as if I was going to die, and my head hurt so bad!! I was starving and in hell practically! My mom called the doctor up and we headed straight to his office. We waited for about an hour or two and then got in. When we got there the nurse took a test of my heart and urine test. Then the doctor walked in and said I needed to get my blood drawn at a more skilled place. So we went to this place near by and got it done. It was so quick and painless. I was happy, I thought " Yay! now they are going to figure out what's wrong!"[BTW the doctor said he'd call us back before the weekend with the results]. My mom and I waited for two days and still no call. My mom said if they didn't call on Friday at noon that she was going to call them. She called all day but they were really busy, so finally around 4:56 or so, right before the doctors closed, my mom got a phone call from the doc. He said there was nothing wrong.. from what he could tell... When my mom told me that I burst into tears. "I KNOW there is something wrong with me!" I told my mom I said" Every day I feel sick and terrible, and my chest feels really heavy and I have bad muscle aches and a swollen lymph under neath my arm pit which is a sign of an infection and I have a fever and he says there's nothing wrong?!?! That's a lie!" My mom kept trying to calm me down by saying it was hormones... hormones do not cause swollen lymph nodes or low grade fevers. I was mad and cried for about 10 minutes straight. Then I tried to feel better... that was yesterday. Today I am sitting here typing this message, my chest is really heavy and sore and I have a low grade fever with a sore throat. I found this site to see if maybe they would know what's wrong.. or recommend some tests. I have asked everyone I know and no one can help. I just no I'm sick, I don't feel well and there are to many signs. So if anyone has had this or has answers please help me!! I need help as soon as possible so my mom and I can return to the doctor and get more tests done! Thanks!
BTW here are all my side affects;
-head ache [off and on]
-low grade fever between 99.0-99.5
-swollen lymph node underneath arm pit
-sometimes I get a sore throat and watery eyes
Any ways, if any body can help please do! I will check back tonight around 10 or so!
what tests where done so far did they do any viral testing? Mono/EBV can cause symptoms you describe as could CMV or other viruses. Do you remember what they checked your blood for? did they do a CBC ANA SED rate any of that kind of stuff? I mean there could be hundreds of causes we would need more info
They took a mono test already a long time ago. So, I don't think I have that. They haven't done any viral testing so we need to get that done and they pretty much checked my blood for everything. I mean, I know I have an infection from my lymph node swelling, we need to go back and get more tests done here soon. Thanks for caring though!^^
No I'm not sexually active at all. BTW I talked to my mom and she said they did do all the common tests to. But, my mom also called my old doctor[ I used to have him as a doctor when I was younger] and he is like the best doctor. He said his wife has been sick for about a month and they to are having trouble finding out what it is. It must be a bug going around... I'll just have to keep checking in with the doctors on this and see what turns up.
I would do a EBV test too because the mono spot test is often not as good as the EBV test and the sexually active question was to rule out HIV. It does sound like it could be EBV or CMV type of virus. But if not then I would see a Dr about auto immune disorders and run some of those types of tests. It can be hard to pin these things down sometimes so just keep track of your symptoms. like write them down so you can remember all of them and when they happen (it can help) good luck
I would also ask him to repeat an EBV test. Did the doc also think about hypoglycemia or low blood sugar? It could explain a few of your symtoms. I know it doesn't explain muscle aches but it does explain the sweating, near fainting and severe hunger that you had. I was hypoglycemic for quite some time before I switched to having too much sugar in my blood and what you described at the make up counter sounded about how I felt when my sugars were low, right down to not being able to hear and just not seeing right. You are right, it is a freaky sensation. I felt a bit panicked as well when my sugars were very low. Anyhow, hypoglycemia doesn't have to be constant, it can be intermittent. Maybe the doc could do a glucose tolerance test to see if that is the case. I had to drink this god awful orange soda stuff and had my blood drawn at intervals. My sugars got pretty low...I believe that I was diagnosed as having reactive hypoglycemia, which means that my sugar actually dropped after eating sweet stuff like candy.
I also wonder if it is a combination of a few things going on with you...either way, your doc needs to do more testing to get to the bottom of this. Just giving out amoxacillin without finding a cause isn't the best way to treat a person.
Good luck and forgive me for rambling...Sunny
I sure do hope I find out what's wrong. I haven't always had these problems, so I highly doubt it was hypoglecimia or w/e you said. Because the problem isn't chronic, it just recently started. Also, my lymph nodes are starting to swell which is a sign of an infection. So it isn't a disorder just a sickness. I don't know what it is.. but it's a real pain literally and it causes my muscles to ache like hell whenever I go somewhere. I HATE it.. I can't even live normal life anymore..... I don't know what to do.... my doctor won't give me answers and won't help at all. He also says all is normal includeing my blood sugar and he didn't say anything about haveing reactive hypoglicemia
Drs don't usually give antibiotics unless you have real signs of a bacterial infection. You've had 3 docs try to give them to you? I think you need to take them. You may have more than one thing going on. Are they seeing an ear infection maybe, which could account for your dizziness. Stopping a-biotics without finishing will only make the infection come back stronger. I'm hypo-glycimic. That can definitely cause some of your symptoms. You may also have a hormone problem going on which is causing the panic attacks. You need to see an endocrinologist. How old are you?
Lol Ok people...., look. I don't want fights starting.. I DON'T have hypoglicemia problems. I was tested for that at the doctors. That also rules out having lyme disease. I do not have any sort of medical problem or disease I was tested for that. I am 100 percent sure I'm just sick with a bacterial infection.. here's why. 1 I haven't felt this way all my life. 2 I have two swollen lymph nodes underneath both of my armpits which is a 100 percent sign of an infection. 3 I have a low grade fever, not common with hormone problems.... 4 I only feel the muscle cramps really bad when I sit in a car for a long period of time or try to get out and do things... they kind of come off and on. 5 I now have some sort of sinus infection to and I feel extra sick.. so I am going to go to the doctors again soon.. maybe tomorrow. 5 I no longer have the panic attacks, as long as I am in the house resting and not out somewhere then I am ok... [ another sign of an infection].
In other words people... it's nothing serious even the doctor said so. I don't have any sort of a disease or anything. I am 100 percent fine I just have an infection. In fact, I mentioned this earlier... One of my old doctors said his wife has been sick for about a month as well and he can't find out what's wrong with her. It's just some sort of a bug going around probably due to new sicknesses entering the US. So please, no more questions if I have a disease or w/e cause I don't. I also don't have hypoglicemia problems. I was tested for ALL of that... I AM sure though that I have a bacterial infection. I have ALL of the signs, and being as though everything else turned out as a negative I'm guessing I'm just sick.
So please, no more disease question or any of that....i'm just sick.. all i want to know if if someone might know what I have, that's all.
Not to worry...we are not fighting. I think everyone who posted here is a veteran on this site and we all respect each other's opinion. I think everyone is asking you questions because it sounded like you don't believe that it is a bacterial infection based on what you said in your first post. Everyone who posted here has had a lot of experience with doctors not being able to make a diagnosis. We have learned through our own experiences how to dig deeper. Unfortunately many people who have not walked in our shoes think doctors will always figure out what's wrong right away. Sadly that's just not the case.
A couple of things...panick attacks are not signs of an infection. A fever and swollen lypmh nodes are, but they can be a sign of other things too, like a disease process. Your headached and chest pain could be upper respiratory could be bacterial but the docs should be able to see signs like active infection in your sinuses and hear stuff in your lungs? Do you have other signs like your coughing or sneezing? If not then I don't think it's an upper res infection. And your sore throat, did the docs see any redness? It could just be from post nasal drip. Plus you didn't respond to either anti-b. I'm not familiar with Avelox but Amoxicillian is a powerful one. It's routinely given for that type of infection. If you think it is a bacterial infection you need to go back and get another type of anti-b and take it for a longer period of time. There is really no way to tell what type of infection you have if you have one.
Many of us have quizzed you about other tests and diseases because you didn't respond to the anti-b and your symptoms can be indicative of a disease process, like all the ones mentioned. We've all learned from personal experience that just because a test says normal doesn't always mean it is. Blood work is only a guideline; it's not a black/white yes/no kind of thing. This isn't any more true than with lyme disease. A negative test result doesn't mean you don't have it. You need to see a doc that is very familiar with it. There's so much to say on lyme disease it's best to direct you to one of the major websites on lyme.
Your symptoms of a heavy chest, head ache [off and on], muscle aches, low grade fever between 99.0-99.5, panic attacks, swollen lymph node underneath arm pit, sound either viral or maybe hormonal like a thyroid or parathyroid problem. It's possible you could have more than one thing going on. Like you have a viral infection that you caught from someone else and you also have a parathyroid problem. Lastly on the more unlikely list, your low grade fever and swollen armpit gland makes think something like lymphoma or hodgekin's disease might be a possibility.
I'd have chest xray's done and see an endocrinoligist if your symptoms continue as they are or get worse, or at the very least see an internist instead of your regular gp.
You may be looking for a more specific answer but I hope this helps none the less. Good luck and keep us posted.
Extremely well put and to the point I agree it first sounds viral
PookiePoops I do not get you. Why would you come to a public form and ask for opinions only to get defensive when people give them It really does not make sense also as already pointed out if you have done two rounds of antibiotics then that would point to another cause (not bacterial) If you have it all figured out then why are you here?
I came here because I believed all the people were polite and kind, I completely misjudged. Ever since I've come here people just argue back and forth when they themselves don't even know what I have or what I feel like. They come to weird conclusions when I tell them what tests I have already had done... it's not a disease in fact I'm finally getting better. I am not gonna come to this site for council again... you people are no help all you do is get mad or the things you've done, but you blame them on me. I don't need people saying " I don't get you!" and causing more problems for me when I have felt bad enough...ok? So, yea I don't plan on coming back here... thanks for the help SOME of you have given.Bye!^^
Wow really not sure where that came from as far as I have read here everyone only tried to help you and you got upset by there opinions. I think you may have misunderstood that or you have some maturity issues. Either way that was uncalled for.
There are so many viral and bacterial infections constantly going around and mutating, that not all of them even have names! On question, you have not yet answered how old you are, how old are you? Because there are certian infections that adolecents are more likely to get then adults. I would say if you are a teen, then maybe you should be checked for mono. Is one of your symptoms stiffness in your neck? Then maybe meningitis. Or if your nodes are swollen and achy muscles, then maybe lymphoma. There are several "bugs" going around, and if you came here looking for the name of the one you have, I'm sorry you won't find that here. I can give you some possibilitys, a major staphlacaccous or streptocaccous infection, hell maybe you have a food borne illness like salmonila, or e-coli. It is really hard to put a specific name to a viral or bacterial infection unless it clearly presents itself, like in your throat, nose, ears, or eyes. Now how long have you been sick as of now? and as far as your low grade fever, some people acctually run a normal temp of 99.0 - 99.5, considering the "average" body tempurature is 98.6, I wouldn't consider that a fever, unless your "normally" run an average temp of 96.5 or something.
Im thinking glandular fever & viral labrynthitis. However i do think you are suffering panic attacks which will only heighten your symptoms. I have suffered with them fillowing viral labrynthitis & if i start panicing i bring on fevers-flu like symptoms.
Go back demand a complete full blood count, esr/crp, tsh, lft, inflammatory markers & go from there...and ecg would also help!!
Tell them that this is making your life hell & need it sorting.
I do recommend a drug called 5-htp from holland & barrett which aleviates anxiety & depression...has worked wonders for me & reduced my symptoms (which i do think are anxiety related)
Keep a diary of your daily symptroms & take it to your docs..
Thanks for the help nickie, I have actually figured out where the panic attacks come from..you see, on this sickness my muscles sometimes get really achy and sore and my chest feels heavy, which makes me feel like I can't breathe, and that was what caused me to panic last time. Speaking of it, I only had one horrible panic attack inccident. The others were minor and I recovered quickly, really all of this started ever since I got sick... I have never had panic problems before. Not to mention I haven't had a panic attack since last Wensday. That was my last attack, since then I've stayed at home resting and I've been fine. Thank you for the help though, I really think I am starting to recover now from whatever this is, so hopefully these panic attacks will stop.
My panic attacks started from labrynthitis & when i still become symptomatic now of it i have a huge panic attack...its awful & im just learning to deal with them. The fact your temp is always high again may indicate something else but likely is because you are concious of it (as i know this only to well)!! My advice as a nurse would be stop taking it. If you feel hot get some air, drink lots of fluids. An inner ear infection which is hard to detect causes all of your symptoms..my doc never believed i had one! I still protest to get stuff done till this day!!
Hello, I am new to this forum. I have for many years been battling recurrent Mycoplasma pnemonia. Mycoplasmas are a bug that are somewhere between a virus and a bacteria. There are different strains of them. It actually invades your cells and can hide there. The strain of Mycoplasma I have loves to live in respiratory tissues. Have you been tested for Mycoplasma.? It may or may not be this bug, but it is worth looking into.
It can only be found through a blood test and it needs to be done by a specialty lab. If it comes buck positive (even if they say it was a recent but not current infection then that is probably what is going on) you should try and have the identity of the mycoplasma made. This is doen through a live bool analysis, as mycoplasma are so small they are difficult to find and can not be grown out of the body. You need to do this before you go on any antibiotics. There are antibiotics for mycoplasma but only specific ones work and sometimes you must take them for a long time.
You might want to go to immed.org or rain-tree.org and read some of the information there. IT may (or may not) be relevent to your symptoms. There may be some other things that listed on that sight that you could be tested for.
If it makes you feel better, I don't think this is all in your head. I believe you when you say something feels wrong even though all the tests come back normal. I understand becasue I have been there. I have a heavy chest on the left side, a dry nonprocductive cough, the feeling llike there is a lump in the left side of my neck, I have odd little muscle pains and twinges in strange muscles like inbetween my knuckles on my fingers. I have night sweats and the feeling of being hot even when no fever is present. I wake up at night paniced becasue my chest is so heavy. The first time I had this bug it took me 5 months and many doctor to figure out what I have and then many many months of antibiotics to get rid of it (or maybe just put it in remission. Soem of your symptoms are far removed from what I experienced. I don't know if you have this critter but is just another thing to look for.
Good luck and I hop you feel better.
P.S. If you find out you have this bug plesae let me know.
Thanks for the post on mycoplasmas. I have CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and the treatment that I'm on is killing the mycoplasma in my tissues and cells that is responsible for my immune dysfunction. The treatment I'm on is treating autoimmune diseases, sarcoidosis (sounds like that is what you may have) and other illnesses.
Hey guys I'm 100 percent better now. I went to the store yesterday and I felt perfectly well. Thanks for all of the concern I'm glad I made this undiganosed sickness known to others. If any of you ever get this just keep in mind you'll get better and the side affects will not be long term. Bye!^^
This could be medical.. but from my experience with all of the doctors i have gone to.. this sortof sounds like a stress/psychotic thing... i know that doesnt sound good.. but when you feel one coming on again... relax... take the time to relax and think it over before it happens if you can.
i have this head ache it occurs when i read a bunch of posts trying to help someone figure out what is wrong with them as i assumed they couldnt figure it out on there own... only to find out that the person knows what is wrong and is rather upset with everyone for trying to help... any ideas ...
Actually, the fact that it is gone now gives it a higher possibility that it was stress. I am not trying to accuse you of anything... But, since you are so set on it being medical... I am accusing you of something... stress/attention... It's not making fun... it can really make these things happen to you. I was just trying to help.
