symptoms don't "fit" any diagnosis

For over 10 I have been dealing with symptoms that don't "fit" into any particular diagnostic category. I am simply miserable and a single mom with a very active toddler. At this point I am seriously considering moving to a different climate and to a state that allows medical THC/CBD because despite being on various medications and having tried sooo many other meds over the years I'm in bad shape all of the time.

Symptoms: chronic nausea, recurrent migraines (4-7/week), extreme fatigue, hot flashes, night sweats/chills that (recently) smell like vinegar, chronic, severe generalized aches, joint and "trigger point" pain, muscle fatigue, muscle tension especially in neck, shoulders and back, loss of appetite, occasional generalized skin sensitivity and focal neuropathies, burning muscles with light exertion, overweight.

I've been diagnosed with so many things over the years, but the current theory is: Fibromyalgia, GERD, resistent chronic migraines, gluten intolerance, and Vit D deficiency. I am under pain management specialist and GP and have seen rheumatologist, but life is still very hard. Current Rx: Belbuca 450mcg, Hydrocodone 10-325 prn, Amantadine, Cymbalta, Prevacid, Maxalt prn, Flexeril prn, Zofran.

So, as you can see, they are throwing a bunch of meds at symptoms, but not really finding source to treat nor "cure" is any. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly I agree a lot with what the other people commented. Being on a lot of pharmaceutical medication is really just adding insult to injury. Magnesium is extremely important and most doctors, at least conventional doctors, never think to recommend it to people that have muscle pain and muscle spasms. Taking baths with Epsom salt is a great remedy. Epsom salt is simply just crystallized magnesium. Soak in a nice warm Epsom salt bath a few times a week and I believe you will see relief. Also try to drink as much water as you can aim for eight glasses a day. You could try doing a good detox. People honestly do not realize how toxic the world we live in really is. Everything from food to water and medication and pollution in the air, skin lotions and cosmetics all contain a lot of toxins. You can try juicing and getting plenty of fiber and water and see if that makes you feel better. It's all about trial and error. Best of luck on your journey to feeling better!

I did have many of your symptoms from magnesium deficiency.  My doctor thought my pain was from fibromyalgia but it was from magnesium deficiency (also had bone pain from vitamin D deficiency).  I was losing magnesium due to insulin resistance (why I was gaining weight without overeating!). Insulin resistance and diabetes will cause excessive urinary magnesium loss.

I worsened my magnesium deficiency with surgery (any type of stress uses up magnesium) and high doses of vitamin D (had a severe vitamin D deficiency but could not get my vitamin D levels up - my severe magnesium deficiency was causing vitamin D resistance - magnesium is the most important co factor for vitamin D absorption).

I read causes of a vinegar body odor include diabetes, hormonal imbalance and menopause. My mother had hot flashes with low estrogen. She sorted that out taking soy supplements (Blackmore's Phytolife). Of interest, studies show magnesium can actually reduce hot flashes too.

Unfortunately you have been "put" on a very dangerous course, by what seems to be a total lack of...medical due diligence, by your treating doctors and pharmacists.

Your health and life in general will definitely continue to deteriorate, should you continue on this path.

Sorry for the grim news.

I did a fast drug interaction check for you and I found the following:

7 MAJOR Interactions!, 9 moderate interactions and 1 minor.

(I saved a copy which I can send you if you're interested)

Unless your doctors are constantly monitoring your meds, the dosages, the changes  in your symptoms etc  and making frequent adjustments, you are at great risk of further health complications. (I don't intend to downplay your current suffering, by mentioning this)

Some of the symptoms you have are from  the side effects  of some of the prescribed drugs, while other drugs are possibly prescribed to treat conditions and symptoms CAUSED by some drug interactions, from drugs you were already taking!!!!
. I am totally appalled at the incompetence of those so-called medical professionals!

Please find a way to get a knowledgeable holistic/natural health professional to help you wean off most of these drugs, safely.

You need to rule out the following:

Hormonal dysregulation, Adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, hypochlorhydria, leaky gut syndrome, multiple food sensitivities, neurotransmitter imbalances,
serotonin syndrome, nutritional/mineral/vitamin deficiencies, vitamin D resistance ( if you're overweight by 20% + over your ideal weight  and / or high cortisol you  likely have a "functional" vitamin D deficiency, even if your levels might be normal !)....

The conventional system unfortunately will not be much
help in ruling out the above, specially when some of your suffering is Iatrogenic.
--Iatrogenic :  :Induced inadvertently by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures.

My suggestion to you is not to entertain the thought of relying on the conventional doctors for much longer.
It seems to me like a life sentence at this point.

Many of your issues can be resolved or at least alleviated, but it will take time and only in the hands of an experienced holistic practitioner.

If finances are an issue, ask friends and family, consider an online fundraiser...whatever it takes to get out of this dysfunctional dependency and receive some proper care and treatment from a respectable health professional like a Functional Medicine Doctor..

Please let me know what you think and if you have any questions, either post again here, or send me a pm.

Best wishes,
Niko

You're symptoms are actually a perfect fit for ME or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Unfortunately most doctors are unable to recognize the symptoms of CFS so it's rarely diagnosed. I've had it for the past 25 years. The good news is that there is actually a condition that most doctors have never heard of that is a well known cause of ME/CFS. It's called the Nutcracker Syndrome or Left Renal Vein Compression.

Google: Nutcracker Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome together.

I was recently diagnosed with a similar condition called May-Thurner Syndrome (Left Iliac Vein Compression) which can cause many of the same problems as Nutcracker Syndrome. Severe compression of either or both of these veins can easily cause all of the problems that you're having. Here's a list of symptoms which have been attributed to Nutcracker Syndrome:

Chronic Fatigue
Orthostatic Intolerance
Headaches
Lightheadedness
Dizziness
Abdominal Pain
Unrefreshing Sleep
Muscle Pain
Joint Pain
Sore Throat
Low Grade Fever
Afebrile Chills
Hot/Cold Flashes
Anxiety
Depression

I would recommend trying to find a Vascular Surgeon that is very knowledgeable about both of these conditions and join a Nutcracker Syndrome group on Facebook. There are many people on these groups that have the same symptoms that you're having and are very helpful in getting diagnosed. In many cases it has taken years if not decades to get diagnosed with this condition. Hope you find some answers soon and good luck!
