Wound healing

I fell 4 days ago on a knee that I had surgery on in June.  I scraped my knee over the previous scar.  It bled some but no serious problem.  I used 100% Aloe gel on it and a scab formed.  When I got up today it was oozing a think yellowish substance.  What should I do to promote healing?  I have left it uncovered except for first night and today.

You could try mixing lemon juice and water together and cleaning it with that. It kills bacteria. Then just wash out good.

You must leave it open to dry, with a very loose gauze when required to prevent material or other items rubbing your wound. If you can locate powdered iodine, which doesn't burn (old timey stuff!), do, and place that powder gently upon the sore. Ask your pharmacist for a powdered iodine or something similar. It will absorb the weeping - a healing reaction, by the way unless the weeping fluid is cloudy, thick, and quite uniquely painful with redness and swelling around your wound, most importantly has an offensive smell - you are in the healing stage, and with a powdered topical med forming an immediate scab you will be fine. Try to keep it dry...if you wet it during showers, gently blot dry immediately, disallowing the new scab to dissolve. Be well

Keep the area clean and dry.  Leaving it uncovered will allow quicker healing allowing a scab to form whilst the healing process carries on under the scab.

If it is oozing with a thick yellowish substance, that is a sign that there is infection.  So I would advise that you see your doctor for him to take a look as you may need a course of antibiotics or an antibiotic cream to apply.

Best wishes.
