anal pain and swelling

Hi.  I have been suffering from anal pain for 3-4 months.  This all started with a vasectomy.  After the vasectomy I developed a testicular hematoma which was treated with oral and IV antibiotics.  I then developed cellulitis (blot clots) in my arm as a result of infected canula sites. I was given more IV and oral antibiotics. About a week out of hospital my anus became very itchy for weeks until finally it became swollen and very painful just inside the rectum and on anus.  There was no pain on BM but swelling and pain an hour or so afterwards and this swelling continues for the rest of the day.  Probiotics has helped the inside but the outside is still very aggravated.  It is never normal but is much worse when sitting and walking, much better after sleeping.  A colonoscopy revealed nothing.  Steroidal creams do not seem to help.  Over the last few days there is a blue swelling around my anus that comes and goes.  Could it just be hemroids that have taked this long to surface?  When I preent to my specialist it usually shows no symptoms that he can see - making it difficult for him to make a diagnosis.  The pain is very bad at times - I can't walk very far.  Can ANYONE help???  I am a 40yr old male who has been in perfect health up until now.

Interesting because I just researched my symptoms on line earlier today and realized that I have an external, thrombosed hemorrhoid. It is just at the back end of the anus and there is a blood clot which thrombosed into a 'growth-like' protrusion at the back opening of the anus. It is purple, painful when sitting, bleeds and becomes moist at times. Actually, this sounds like what you might have. At first, I really did not think it was a hemorrhoid. I thought fissure or rectocele....but it is not either one of those.
Oddly and disgustingly enough, along with what the good doc just told you to do, one of the sites I read this morning actually mentioned to ease the sucker back in gradually with your finger (touchy subject matter-eh?!) at various times of the day and it will shrink back in and dissolve eventually. The treatments could all take up to two to four weeks but it beats surgical intervention which is sometimes considered if these thrombosed blood clotted hemorrhoids become the size of a walnut. If it is pea-sized, it is more likely to heal on its own and with your help.
I began my 'therapy' this morning and I can honestly say, I can see where these remedies WILL work.
It was advised to eat as soft a diet as possible to ease the strain on the rectum while this thing is healing. Fiber is difficult to obtain in soft form unless you eat peanut butter which is not bad for you. Personally, I will stick to a bit of All Bran Buds cereal....the absolute best cereal for fiber-rich content. NOT the flakes, but the BUDS. They are a little more expensive than the flakes but well worth it.
Best wishes to you on your journey.
By the way, I am not making fun of the situation....just trying to put a little levity into a delicately, uneasy subject to talk about amongst strangers!

Hi,

Most likely these are hemorrhoids which are showing up now. You can try “sitz bath” where you will have to sit in 3-4 inches of 110-115 degrees of water for 15 minutes atleast 2-3 times a day.
Drinking 6-8 glasses of water is a must.
A fiber rich diet will also help.
If these do not alleviate your symptoms please seek a second opinion.
