blurred vision, pressure in head, heart racing, feel tired and elevated CRP

I have been having blurred vision, pressure in head and ears, dizziness, fatigue, heart racing and can hear heart pounding in head for over a year now with noise sensitivity ten times louder than it should be and no one can seem to tell me what is wrong with me.I also have joint pain and weakness.I saw an ENT and a internist and I have had an MRI that was normal and nothing wrong with my ears so they think it is basically in my head I know it is not. So I went to see a new doctor today and he got the blood work from the internist and said my CRP is elevated 21.2 and he could not believe there was no follow up to this so he is doing as ANA and ESR.  So I am trying to figure out what this might have to do with the symptoms I am having.  Please if someone can give me any ideas. I am a 35yr old and I am so tired of being sick and tired. The new doctor seems wonderful and determined to find out what is going on.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
There is a chance that you have ‘benign intracranial hypertension’  (BIH). This happens due to impaired CSF absorption. A generalized throbbing headache worst felt in the morning and last thing at night. This headache is generally relieved on standing (consistent with raised intracranial pressure). It is aggravated by straining, coughing or a change in position. The second most common symptom is visual defect, which you too have. Antianxiety medications are helping you; this again goes in favor of this problem.

You need a prompt evaluation by a neurologist. Hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, adrenal insufficiency are a few things I would recommend you get investigated for. These can precipitate BIH. A spinal tap is a must both to diagnose the condition and to treat it.
Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benign_intracranial_hypertension
Do discuss this with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I have been experiencing the same symptoms, blurred vision, heart racing, fatigue pressure on eyes, ears, teeth which causes me to have extreme anxiety because it has me petrified to death to not know what is causing it. I also feel or sense like my heartbeat is in my head or brain, and my hearing is effected also to where sometimes sounds like lightning or thunder is distorted (very strange). I have had Crystalens implants to improve my vision close up. I have had bad back problems in the past. I discontinued the use of Xanax several months ago, but surprisingly it helps if I take the Xanax to lessen these effects. Wouldn't this dependency of this med be gone by now. I quit for over 3 weeks until it was unbearable. Please anyone help me with what you think would help. I have been told that Xanax has a very short life, was instructed to ask for Klonopin as it stays in your system longer and is way easier to discontinue when you are ready. I also have had L5/S1 fusion and implanted Pain Pump.

I have had the same symptoms as most you for a couple of months and my Kaiser doctor won't send me yet to a ENT or have any scans or xrays done. by what I tell him he says it's an inner ear problem and he keeps proscribing drugs for all my symptoms instead of finding the cause. It's driving me crazy that I still feel like this. If any of you get a good answer to all these things going on please let me know. Oh yeah because of  anxiety over all this my blood pressure went up and my heart races so you guessed it, he put me on blood pressure pills!

I have the same symptoms!  I often have blurred vision dizziness, fatigue, heart racing. This all started with a infected tooth that somehow led to a c-diff infection in my stomach.  That aparantly caused the onset of IBS, I notice when I eat certain foods or eat at certain places it makes things worse.  I use to go to the ER often when it started 4 years ago now I take a Xanax and deal with it!  The blurred vision and heart racing seem to come and go every 6 months.  I have had  doctors every blood test known to man, MRI's, colonoscopies, you name it.  NOTHING WRONG!!!  How can that be!  Something in my body is off and nobody can help!!  I have tried all kinds of homepathic remedies they help for a while but the symptoms return when they feel like it...  one thing I am going to try is a specific diet for stomach problems and se if that helps, I have heard your stomach has more sensories than your brain and when it comes to the stomach and bowels the docotrs are clueless!  if a pill cannot fix it you are on your own.  So if someone has any insight please help!

Have any of you taken Cipro, Avelox or Leviquin all my symptoms are like that and just started after taking one of those drugs. I also have muscle spasms when my head clears up. FDA put a warning out on those drugs so if you have taken any of those recently might be worth reading up on their side effects.

Have you found out the cause? I have many of same symptoms. I have Hashimotos disease (autoimmune thryroid) and they associated all my symptoms to that. But thryoid is now regulated and still feeling bad. I get dizzy- the vision blurs then my heart starts racing (I think its becasue I am afraid I will pass out-which i have a few times) I have been through a gambut of tests from endocrinologist. He recently went to neurologist and he is testing me for the nerve in my ear. He thinks that is the root of everything. he did an extensive exam in office and determined my balance was completely off (couldtn walk straight line forward and backward with eyes closed) Needless to say, I am going for 3 tests this month to determine for sure if that is it.  I sure hope so --this has been going on for nearly 2 years and I am tired of going to dr's and not feeling weel.

You mention HBP.  Have you had that checked as in monitering for an extended period of time ?  My husband has had HBP for a long time and was unable to take the meds of pervious years.  He was having as some of the symptoms, vision problems ( glasses prescriptions never seemd to be exactly right ) a pulsating feeling behind or in the corner of one eye, and a sort of mental confusion. Also if he stepped out of the house into bright light, it would cause his eyes to roll up in his head.  Most of this started in the last 2 years. He went in to emergency with the pulsating and since they were vy busy he spent 3 hrs with his BP being constantly monitered. It was all over the place tho not extermely High. The result being a diagnosis of Chronic HBP. He was told this can lead to short-term Memory loss.
Since being on Lisinipril, the pulsating has stopped and the confusion is much better as long as he does not miss a dose. The other I mentioned, light affecting the eyes has also ceased.  He had Brain tumor sugery abt 16 years ago but we do not think this is what has caused the BP or eye problem.

Hi,
I had the same symptons as you have. No one could find the exact cause. Syptoms disapeared after a couple of months with brain supplements and herbal medicines for anxiety. How are you doing now?

I am currently having all of the exact same symptoms, you cannot believe how strange it is to see someone else with the EXACT same symptoms as myself. I have also had an MRI and CAT scan with nothing shown. It startded with alot of severe lightheadedness, then lead to preasure in my left temple, which after a day moved to my head and neck. I also can hear my heart beat inside my head, and have spells of high blood preasure and rappid heart beat. I have also noticed most of all my vission is becoming worse day by day. I met with an optimoligist and my eyes checked out fine.

Hi, thanks for talking so much with me.  Yes my heart does race when I stand up quickly, what does that mean? I know that my ESR was normal but the ANA is not back yet. They said that could take a couple of weeks so I don't know.

You seem to have alot more knowledge about some of this stuff than I do and I thought of one more question to ask.Do you know if you can have a positive ANA and a normal ESR?  I also was talking to someone and they said that a elevated CRP could mean heart disease or a malignancy of some kind my doctor did not say anything about those.

Has the doctor give you any medicine that has helped at all if it is anxiety?  Do you feel rotten every single day where at some point you feel great during the day but most of the time you feel like you can't function.

Thankyou for your information. It was very helpful and reassuring in away, that I am not going through this alone. You start feeling like your crazy. The stuff Just comes out of the blue and it last forever and it seems like there is nothing you can do to feel better.

Sounds like classic migraine symptoms.  I'm sure your previous dr. mentioned this as a possibility.  They can be set off by certain smells, allergies, sensory overload, stress, etc.  I hope your new dr. can set your body straight!
