body temperature problems

Hi I am 56 and have been through the menopause relatively easy and am not taking any HRT.  I am healthy and lead a fairly active life though overweight.

My problem is that although I do not get hot flushes as such, I do feel the heat, particularly at night.  This is causing problems at night time as I like to have a sheet or light duvet on and the windows open.  My husband is one of those people who like to be covered up to the nose, windows closed.  I also feel he emits a lot of body heat in bed which doesn't help me. Consequently neither of us is sleeping well.

Could this be post menopausal symptoms, ie hot flushes or is it my body temp?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You may not be getting hot flushes as such but the feeling of heat can be due to menopause or it could be due to hyperthyroidism. You must get a female hormone panel including LH, FSH, prolactin, estrogen, progesterone; thyroid profile, and a temperature charting morning evening to know what is wrong. Do consult your doctor.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Hello to both of you. I am not through menopause yet but I can tell you that if you were both to start using prescription progesterone cream (bio-identical hormone) you would begin to feel much better. Before your get the cream you will need to have your female hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) evaluated. It should help you both with any symptoms you may have. Progesterone will help protect your bones from bone loss. Not many gynecologists use prescription bio-identical progesterone cream. You have to ask around. This is a much healthier way to use progesterone rather that a synthetic. Good luck

Hi I understand completely - I have exactly the same prob. with 'heat' rather than 'hot flushes'

I am now sleeping in spare room with a fan attatched to my headboard which I can easily turn on/off - atleast this is helping me sleep!  My 'other-half ' sounds the same as yours!!!

I guess it is menopausal stuff - as I haven't had a monthly for well over a year.  I am also getting lots of arthritic type pain and feel like I am siezing-up !! after sitting in one position for a while. I am 49 years - sometimes feel 79!!!!

Best wishes to you
