I'd suggest you look at the different books from Dr. Brownstein online, maybe the one on adrenal glands or thyroid. Also check out The Mood Cure from Julia Ross, you can find some info online. mark's daily apple has free info too. If those don't help, you may want to contact a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner who will help you get to the cause and treat it naturally.

It does sound like a panic attack. They do have meds to help with this. I would see a doctor to get on the right meds. You are probably tired in the morning because you are up at night. I also suggest you go to biofeedback. I tried it and it really helped me. It takes a few sessions and it also takes a few months of practice. It helped me get out of the fight and flight response. They show you breathing exercises and you practice them several times a day with like an MP3 player. You can get a recording of the way you are supposed to breathe. You don't have to breathe that way all the time but if you keep doing it over time it lowers the anxiety and you lose it. It just goes away. I had such fear from my back injury that I couldn't do anything  and I got more injuries and tightened up. This helped so much. Find a integrative medicine doctor that will help you with this.
