dizzy, headaches, light headed

For the past 5 days I have had extreme neck pain and headaches which is pretty normal for me. I have always had this pain due to a car accident, my doctors have me on propolanol to take in the morning to prevent my headaches, and imitrex for when I do get them, but lately nothing is cutting it. Now with my headache, everytime I take a step when I am walking or turn my head I get very dizzy and light headed. Sunday night was so bad I had to take 2 imitrex and that didnt work, a pain pill, nothing seemed to help, all I could do was cry. The headache slightly went a way but is still kind of there but I am still feeling dizzy and light headed and am seeing spots when I blink, or I have to squint my eyes to look at things because I cannot focus properly. I cannot afford to go see my doctor anymore because I just got cut off from my benefits and cannot afford it right now. Any suggestions?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
There is a chance that you have compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region either due to an old injury or due to faulty posture or canal stenosis. Use a hard bed to sleep. Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will do wonders. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs help. You can also use a cervical collar. Other than that the pain and visual symptoms can also be due to benign intracranial hypertension. A spinal tap is needed both for diagnosis and cure. It can also be a bad attack of migraine. So if my suggestions do not help, go to an ER. Take care!
