fever and rheumatoid arthritis

i have been having low grade fever for last five months. Doctors tell me it is because of Rheumatoid Arthritis. My Haemoglobin has also come down to 9.3. I feel so low on energy that most of the times I keep lying down. Doctors are treating me and say that I might be out of it in two months. Now I have started getting disheartened. After almost three weeks of treatment I feel no better- a little worse in fact. I want to know if anyone has gone through the same and ever come out of it.

all those values out of range are common in RA but they are also all compatible with an infection.

They are giving you treatment for RA but haven't investigated what is triggering it. which might explain why the treatment is ineffective.

Procalcitonin doesn't appear to be necessarily connected with RA or any auto-immune disease.

considered that auto-immune reactions can be triggered by infections.

take a look at this, (US national library of Medicine)

"Significantly elevated PCT levels offer good specificity and sensitivity for systemic infection in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases, regardless of the use of corticosteroids or immunosuppressive agents. PCT measurement may add to diagnostic accuracy in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases who present with a febrile illness, especially when highly sensitive PCT assays and specific PCT cutoff ranges are used in a predefined clinical setting (reflecting the likelihood of infection versus an autoimmune disease flare). However, there are limitations when using this biomarker in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases. PCT levels should not replace the necessary extensive diagnostic workup, which should include a thorough history and physical examination, combined with appropriate immunological, microbiological, radiological, and histological data."

They did test the RA Factor. It was 128 ,ESR-64,HSCRP-10.91(range0.00 to 3.00)   and anticcp antibodies-41.5 (normal<5) and Procalcitonin0.073 (0.046) .They are giving me what they call Tripple therapy.
       (i)   Sazo-2gm (sulfasalzine Delayed-Release Tablets
       (ii)    Methotreaxeate 7.5gm x 2 Once a wk
       (iii)    Plaquinol 200mg once aday
and of course folic acid 5mg daily except the day of Methotraxeate
But my fever is going on increasing. Anaemia , they say is a side effect of RA

Well since your hemoglobin is low you would feel tired. It sounds like an anemia to me. Have you had a complete blood test, iron level, ferritin, B-12 or any other tests? If so please send me the results and I'll try to help. Do they know the reason for the low hemoglobin? Have you seen any blood loss?
