frozen feelings in limbs

My hands, wrist, feet and ankles feel if they are frozen. Sometimes they are cold to the touch and sometimes they are not. What cause it and how do I treat it. I have told my GP about it and he sent me to a neurologist and still no answer. I am miserable. Please help me. and tell me what to do and what kid of doctor to go to now. Could it be from combinations of medicines or something else. I take medications for high blood .

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, it could be due to the medications of high BP especially with drugs like beta blockers. So talk to the doctor who prescribed the drugs. Cold peripheries or cold hands and feet can happen due to peripheral vascular disease or disorder of the circulatory system outside of the brain and heart. Other causes of cold extremities are hypothyroidism, eating disorders like anorexia, Addison’s disease, adrenal causes like pheochromocytoma, anemia, Buerger’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome and Raynaud’s disease. You will need some tests like treadmill test, color Doppler, angiography, ultrasonography and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Sounds like poor circulation.  If severe you should look up peripheral vascular disease.  I would ask my doctor if it was ok to take an aspirin every day to thin the blood out a bit and help it circulate.  I would also check my family history for diabetes.  Maybe get checked.  Take your blood pressure everyday and keep it under 160/90 when at all possible.  Take sugar out of your diet as much as possible and keep blood sugars below 200!   Wear socks, take baths often before bed.  Prop them up when you sleep. and basically try to stimulate circulation.  A massage of the feet is not out of the question.  If you have had back or neck injuries they could also be complicating it.  A good walk every evening is recommended.  Best advice of all, snuggle up with someone warm.
