further blood tests

i have had to have a renal profile and b12 folate blood test after having  routine blood tests. can you tell me the reason why my gp as requested these tests

An elevated MCV (mean cell volume) would be a likely reason to test for vitamin B12 and/or folate deficiency.  An electrolytes imbalance may be a sign of kidney disease/dysfunction. Not sure exactly what labs you have had done but if you want to post them i can comment further. :)

Yes, the renal profile usually is a BUN and Creatinine and checks the kidney function. The B12 is probably looking for anemia and/or B12 deficiency.
