Hello,
Your symptoms are suggestive of cervical spondolysis or occipital neuralgia.Cervical spondolysis is due to the age-related degeneration ('wear & tear') of the vertebrae and discs in the neck region. This can cause compression of the nerves and hence pain.
Occipital neuralgia is a cycle of pain-spasm-pain originating from the suboccipital area (base) of the skull that often radiates to the back, front, and side of the head, as well as behind the eyes.
Treatment of occipital neuralgia may involve oral medications like antiinflammatories, localized therapeutic injections, physical therapy, massage, and heat.Same is the treatment of cervical spodolysis along with cervical collars.
I feel that you should consult a neurologist/orthopedician and get these possibilities ruled out.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
