Actually, this is probably not related to your heart at all. The type of pain you are describing is classic for nerve pain. It is called radiculopathy. You should start with xrays of the cervical and thoracic spine to look for bony abnornalities that could be pushing on the nerves as they exit the spinal canal (compression fracture, osteophyte, etc). A more aggressive approach would be an MRI of the spine to look at the nerves themselves, but that is probably not necessary at this point, given that is has only happened once. If it continues to be a problem, then you might consider it.
