i recently was shocked

I was recently shocked when I was helping my nieghbor open his electric fence gate so he could drive through. I had already undone one and went to go do the other when my left elbow connected with a wire. my body was in state of.... well shock for good minute. His wife had to ask me if I was alright. After a minute or two I felt somewhat normal. Well over the next 2 or 3 days my heart would pound harder...not faster just harder and i got tired quicker, my body never ached more than what was normal either. My mother in law did some research and found that it was somewhat normal for the body to take a few days to get back to normal after a large shock. I have been shocked by our pig fence many a time...and it never affected me. now my nieghbors is much stronger. I like to think i have a high tolerance to pain and that I am quite strong for being 27 and a woman taking care of things on our farm for the last 7 mths while husband working overseas as contractor. But that did a number on me for sure! I want to know what some of your opinions are on this though.....

Agree with caregiver222.
I've had a huge number of electric shocks over the years, only one ever caused any injury (around 350-400V dc from high current source).  It felt like my arm was being bitten off by some huge animal, but the actual damage was relatively small, a core of burnt flesh about 2mm wide 3-4mm deep.
I'd guess voltage supplied to a pig fence is much lower than other kinds of  fence, since pigs have so much less hair to penetrate than cattle for instance.
However, I'd suggest that neighbour has fence voltage and associated electronics tested to rule out faults or incorrect wiring.

The chances are you have suffered no harm at all. Electric fences are set up so there is high voltage but insignificant amperage. It is the amperage that causes damage. Electric livestock fences have been around for a long time and the fact there is no insurance liability nor court cases should tell you something.
