hello there, im 22yrs old, over the last six months iv been experienceing some unusal and frustrating symptoms, 1) my memory has been progressively getting worse i can barely remember what iv done 2 days ago, plus my partners noticed that i dont remember things iv been asked to do or things that weve chatted about. 2) my eyesite goes blurry but its not all the time usually in the evening. 3) my mood has significantly changed over the last 6 months it just takes something so small 2 set me off on a tantrum (i feel as tho its getting that bad that i could lass out at a loved one). 4) im struggaling to string out a sentence normally i sometimes start 2 stutter and i keep getting my words back to front for example: brakehand instead of handbrake. 5) my legs and arms keep going numb for no reason. 6) i keep loosing balance and nearly falling over when im just stood somewhere and when im walking through doorways i keep knocking my shoulders on the door frame. i do hope im just getting paranoid as im to scared and embarrassed to go see my doctor about this. im just hoping someone can enlighten me on what these symptoms could be?
many thanks

Good luck and I hope you can find some answers.  If your blood tests come back normal, ask your doc to refer you to a neurologist - who can diagnose things like MS - since it really does sound like what you have is neurological in nature.  When people hear 'neurological disorder' they usually get really worried, but remember that there are dozens of treatment options and medicines out there for patients with neurological disorders, many of which begin to work very quickly to control symptoms and prevent damage.  So if you do have something like MS, it doesn't mean you are doomed to a lifetime of suffering.

It's completely understandable that you'd be embarrassed about these symptoms, nobody likes to stumble in public or mispronounce words, but try to remember that it is not your fault and you have no reason to be ashamed.  You should be proud of yourself for overcoming your fear and embarrassment and going to the doctor.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I agree with ErinBBC that your symptoms are suggestive of MS. However as everyone is telling you, it is difficult to diagnose on net. The symptoms could also be due to diabetic neuropathy, low Vit B12 related myelopathy or due to depression. Fibromyalgia too is another possibility that should be considered.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Take some one with you who can explain what he or she observes when with you. This will  help a lot. Take care!

Hi,
Multiple sclerosis can cause all of these symptoms.  You should get your primary care doctor to refer you to a neurologist as soon as possible to rule this condition, as well as other serious conditions, out.  Here is a link to the MS Society's web page about MS symptoms, many of yours are on the list but remember that other diseases have these symptoms too:  http://www.nationalmssociety.org/about-multiple-sclerosis/what-we-know-about-ms/symptoms/index.aspx

There is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about.  If you have something going on like MS, a pinched nerve, or a lesion, you didn't cause it and you can't help it.  Anyone experiencing your symptoms would be worried, so you are most definitely not just being paranoid, and if your doctor is even halfway decent he will will take your symptoms very seriously.

I agree with the above post that you should take your partner or a friend with you for support.  If you are nervous and scared you may forget to report some symptoms or not be able to concentrate on what the doctor is saying, and your friend can provide any info you miss and help you remember the doctor's words.  Plus you'll feel better with someone you know and trust holding your hand.

Good luck and keep us posted,
E

Go see a doctor.
The internet is not a place to get diagnosed as there are way too many possibles - but without basic tests, an exam and an idea of history - hard to say.

Changes require a doctor. Do not be afraid - and bring someone trusted with you if you feel that you need to to explain.
