is a low "mean platelet volume" significant

I have had four blood tests lately and they all have had basically the same results.  My WBC has been high, not terribly high but out of range.  It was either 12's or 11's when the cutoff for normal is 10.

Also my mean platelet volume is always low.  It is in the 6's when the starting point of the range is 9.

The last "abnormality" is my hs-CRP.  It has been 5, 3.8, 2.6 and 4.1.

I am just wondering if anyone knows about the mean platelet volume or the CRP.  I know CRP is a marker of inflammation, but it is nonspecific and my gp isn't testing anything further.

I have had nonspecific chest pain for going on two years.  I have not only chest pain but arm, armpit, jaw and neck (on the left side) discomfort.  I have seen 4 cardiologist, had many tests and my heart is fine.  The last cardio I saw at the end of our visit said we'd just have to wait for something to present itself.  I am just looking back at my labs to see if I can put something together that would be causing this.  It is not related to stress (that I can tell) and comes on out of the blue.  I've been to many other docs; gastro, pulmonary, endocrine, ob/gyn, allergist and even a chiropractor (bad, bad experience!!).

When it is bad, like today, I have a shortness of breath, tightness around the left side of my chest to my back (under the arm) and just a general "out of sorts" feeling.

I just pulled my labs from Mayo.  They did a serum ANA with the result being .6 (less than 1.0 considered negative).   I'm assuming that since nothing else was noted that "with pattern" wasn't done here.  When I was at Mayo they were going to send me to a Rheumatologist but I was running out of time as my insurance was covering 100% until Mar. 1.  I opted to see the gastro and endocrinologist instead.

Just thought I'd post back with the ANA results.

I hope you are doing well today.

Thanks for responding.  They haven't pursued the finding any further.  But here in town, my gp isn't exactly the most thorough.  I believe I had an ANA titer at Mayo, I'll have to go pull those records from my files.

Thanks again and I hope you are feeling well.
